Posted to Dr. Todd Grande (RE: Depp vs Heard Lawsuit Results) uploaded to You Tube 06/01/2022

Between Jussie Smollett and Amber Heard, celebrity status has not been kind towards any abused group or individuals. Johnny Depp "won" against an opponent who is obviously mentally ill. Judging by the performance of her defense team, I highly doubt that even they were told the truth. I wish the jury could have come to a conclusion that was more neutral. For example only awarding Johnny Depp the entire amount of his divorce settlement to Amber Heard without assigning punishment/defamation. Now that would have sent a message.

Posted to Footless Jo (RE: New Leg and Upcoming Hike) uploaded to You Tube 06/01/2022

One vote here to watch whatever Jo wishes to share concerning prosthetics and certainly the hike with Sophie. I think that several millennia ago hiding and distrust of the unfamiliar, helped us survive. In current times we need to grow beyond that old distrust. So show it all, the leg, its care, its use, its challenges. Let's make it familiar and not scary.

Posted to Footless Joe (RE: Leg spasm) uploaded to You Tube 06/04/2022

This is going to sound weird, but it looks like the human equivalent of when I enter too many commands too quickly onto my MAC (before the prior one was processed) resulting in a buffering /glitching as if it were confused. Essentially being confused is the human equivalent of a program being stuck in a loop. So I am guessing that there are still nerve endings that are sending messages to the brain which results in "glitching"? Wonder if that glitch is related to the random phantom pain syndrome?

Posted to Hazariel Costumes (RE: Rocco Dress- part 2) uploaded to You Tube 06/03/2022

That was a beautiful mashup of a French 18th century dress with decor via anime/manga art and orphan fabrics.  4,000 euros (equates to: 4280.24 USD as of this post) is a little out of my league, so I will admire it from afar. I did like the technique of dyed flowers painted with a touch of bleach and then sprayed with water to make the color look ethereal. Eau De Javel does sound très élégant. Good to know if I am ever in France attempting to get my clothes laundered (I am allergic to eau de javel)!  I went down a rabbit hole of languages trying to see if javel by itself meant something related to bleach in French. It does not, but in Swedish jävel means Cerberus (Hellhound).

BTW I love the idea of designing and creating dresses in all white, especially in several historical/fashion period styles to then paint/stain/color/adorn into a color-filled design. I just saw (on You Tube as I travel nowhere these days) a dress designed by Michael Cinco worn at Cannes Film Festival 2022 by Raline Shah. It was painted (I assume by hand not machine) in a trompe l'oeil style. It was unbelievable and yet still classically beautiful.

Posted to The Dodo (RE: Sonny the shepherd's reaction to Baby) uploaded to You Tube 06/06/2022

Sonny is a beautiful, smart and intelligent dog. That being said, yes you can at least partially prepare a dog for a new resident. Expose the dog to crying sounds either strictly audio or online with images. Get all the baby supplies out and about, so the dog can smell things from the crib to a box of diapers and even clothing or a bib. When the baby is born take a blanket/towel that the baby has come in contact with and allow the dog to smell (but not play with) the material before the baby comes home. Rub the towel/blanket on the dog gently. After any contact with baby things, baby smells, baby noise, if the dog handles it to your satisfaction reward the dog with a treat or whatever the dog loves (a toy, a walk, praise).

Sure even after all this prep, some dogs cannot adapt. However, many dogs do adapt especially with proper training and human attention.  As with all things there is the ubiquitous warning: never leave the dog alone with an infant.

Posted to Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (RE: School Police) uploaded to You Tube 06/06/2022

The root problem of these tragedies is inadequacies.  Inadequate gun sale laws, inadequate mental health assessments and inadequate medical insurance coverage make for a challenging problem that governments appear to be reluctant to even address, never mind implement solutions.  As for assuming that schools can handle these situations, we have the very odd occurrence of a school giving a student arrest record for a science project, the arrest of a 5 year old and then a Michigan school system that, along with the local police department in December, 2021 allowed an extremely troubled teenager back into school. Proof of mental health issues and violent intent did not result in any help for the teen who then returned to the classroom and acted on those violent impulses with tragic results.

Posted to Sierra Schultzzie (RE: Old Navy shopping) uploaded to You Tube 05/13/2022

For affordability and (size/color) predictability I always buy Old Navy jeans. I have not shopped in the "real" world (excluding grocery and CVS) anywhere in SO long. Thanks for taking us along on the trip. BTW I would so get that black top: (1) wear with a chain or maybe a "corset-style" belt with lighter wash jeans  (2) wear with a glittery mini skirt with shirt hem tied up on one side to be asymmetrical (3) wear with skinny jeans and boots (4) pull back hair buy chandelier earrings and wear dark wash jeans with high heeled (maybe platform) boots. Full disclosure the majority of my closet is black along with a few outliers (tan, gray, brown, navy) so I am not impartial regarding that color!

posted to HauteLeMode (RE: Christopher John Rogers collection 10) uploaded to You Tube 06/08/22

Not sure what the full collection contains, but I could not find an outfit that I didn't like among those shown here. While admittedly I am a neutral (black, grey, tan navy, cream) type of person, if I could afford to buy CJR creation I would certainly try color. The clothing has such fantastic shapes, silhouettes and classic lines. I do not know if the sizing is inclusive, but many of the styles can probably be worn by a wide assortment of customers.

I was rather annoyed also!  I did a quick search on her. https://law.stanford.edu/directory/michele-landis-dauber/

She teaches courses on campus sexual assault law.  https://law.stanford.edu/courses/?tax_and_terms=20212022&instructor=4490&page=1

Looking at her info (at least provided by Stanford) she seems eminently qualified as a professor and even her personal life (spouse and 5 children) seems good. Burn-out maybe? She probably hears about a lot of college students who are not believed or taken seriously during the investigation of assaults. Going on social media to make these kind of posts seems odd and of course unprofessional. She is a PROFESSOR so why doesn't she write a book of a scholarly paper on this subject including data to back up her views? Were I the suspicious sort, I might assume she has an article or book about attorneys who are women that is close to publication.

Posted to Dan Murrell (Review: Jurassic World Dominion [2022] ) uploaded to You Tube 06/10/2022

While some of the character work was rough, I did enjoy Jurassic World (2015). I treated Fallen Kingdom (2018) as a comedy and it worked for me in that format. Well, except for one horrific scene when the humans leave the about to be destroyed island while hearing the plaintive bellowing of the doomed creatures, including that adorable (?)Brontosaurus. Probably I will see World Dominion streaming, but I do not want to see anything like the sad Brontosaurus scene.

According to a DNA site, my genetic structure contains 2% Neanderthal genes. Not the exotic mix I was hoping for when I entered the system!  Interestingly full-blooded Neanderthal were typically stockier than early modern humans with a larger lung capacity along with a probable need for more oxygen. Not sure about Omicron variant, but the Delta variant seemed to target the lungs in the later portion/more deadly period of the infection.

Posted to Roxxsaurus (RE: BooHoo X Megan Fox collection) uploaded to You Tube 06/12/2022

My favorite was the long silvery (a bit sheer) gown. I looks so well made! So beautiful. I agree that with a bandeau, bike shorts or body-con/shaper the wearer would be gala-ready. Everything else...well I do not like orange (or some of the fit of the orange items). Most of the other items seemed to need judgement by experts in the category of, "Is it cosplay or clothing".

My favorite Megan Fox movie is Rogue (2020). She is literally the hero of the movie while looking good and being in control of her team. As for the movie itself, well I will leave that to critics.

Posted to Mia Maples (RE: Costco/Freezer Storage) uploaded to You Tube 06/12/2022

I did enjoy this video. I do like to watch any hauls (admittedly gowns are my favorite). It is SO satisfying to watch things being organized and put away. One question though, are you keeping an inventory? Just to know if maybe in the future there should be more of this or less of that or whatever. That soup freezing item is genius! I also put left over soup in the fridge which usually results in it being pushed back and thus forgotten about or kept in front causing turmoil (spilled soup) in other food items. I tell you this from experience, chicken noodle soup does not mix well with chocolate pudding.😳

Basically I love almost any movie with dinosaurs in it, but even I have acquired "Jurassic Fatigue". I know because rather than entertain me, this movie makes me think of the damage invasive species (plant and animal) have done.  Forget eating people and harming landmarks, we would be out of food, shelter and the internet in a week. And giant flaming locusts (why does that sound like an indie band) was that the only way they could insert the OG cast, really? Love these reviews, funny, informative and always entertaining.

So much of what Dr. Grande said resonated with me. The unexpected death of a man so talented who had a daughter and so much to live for, hit me very hard. Hearing Dr. Grande explain a possible scenario of why this happened has somewhat eased my thoughts. Now I realize that Anthony Bourdain died from a treatable disease that went undiagnosed and/or unmonitored. A tragedy should not define or negate the important things that Mr. Bourdain did with his life. However, I still find seeing video of him traveling, laughing and eating difficult to watch the way that I once did.

Posted to John Campea (RE: Peter Rice firing) uploaded to You Tube 06/13/2022

Regarding the sudden firing of Peter Rice, it all comes down to money. When is the next Disney shareholder's meeting, March 2023? They will follow the moneymaker. I am not sure what Disney's mission statement is, but creativity should be high on a list of attributes to which this company must adhere. They bought Marvel, LucasFilm and Fox, so they have literally bought themselves time and inventory. Creativity is the only way they can enlarge their inventory and add subscribers to their streaming channel. Disney corporate needs to realize this before people get tired of seeing live action versions of old animated films because the number of movie studios available for sale is not getting bigger.

Posted to John Campea (RE: Disappearance of Ezra Miller) uploaded to You Tube 06/13/2022

If the past few years of Ezra Miller's life were in a film, critics would be saying, this movie is over-stuffed with details, it is unbelievable, this could not happen.  I agree that regarding this disappearance of Ezra Miller and Tokata Iron Eyes, that we may not know the truth. Based on Ezra Miller's past escapades, I am not hopeful that this disappearance is simply a misunderstanding. If this does turn out to be bad, I would say that the Flash movie starring Ezra Miller is unreleasable.

Posted to Runkle of the Baily (RE: Juror [Depp vs. Heard tria] interview) uploaded 06/16/2022

I am going to use the phrase "too soon" regarding juror interviews.

With the law tube coverage and analysis along with the trial being so easily accessed on various streams, we already know too much about this disaster of a marriage and divorce. I cannot imagine what the stress of this 6 week-long trial has had on those jurors. No matter how emotionally and physically resilient these people are, I would like to see at least several months pass by before they tell their experiences. Being crass, a bit greedy and pragmatic, I would hold out for a book deal with a late 2022 or early 2023 turn in date. Writing a book would also be an excellent way of systematically understanding the changes and experiences that these jurors have undergone along with their motivations for the verdict.

posted to Justine Leconte officiel (RE: New home in south of France, Provence) uploaded 06/19/2022

I love that credo, "renovate but, respect the soul of the house". I would get a local artist to put that on a plaque and hang in a prominent location.  I agree the kitchen and bathroom should be done first. The kitchen ceiling is beautiful, however definitely let someone check it for stability.
Just before he appeared on screen, I was going to suggest an owl for pigeon control! I wonder, perhaps hang several wind chimes? If chime sounds would be annoying then make your own silent ones. However do not use metal, choose something that can stay intact during the rain while moving in the wind. I have no idea if this will work, but at the very least it is an excuse to visit the shops in town to purchase brightly colored and "quiet" objects to hang, hooks (or just nails) and fishing line.

posted to Dr. Todd Grande (RE: Amber Heard's post trial interviews) uploaded to You Tube 06/18/2022

I am sure it is illegal, unethical and impossible, but I wish the court could have sentenced Amber Heard to at least 365 days of therapy from a someone recommended or approved by Dr. Curry. When therapy was completed to the court's satisfaction, the financial judgements by the jury (not her own attorneys' costs, she would still have to pay that), would be reviewed, perhaps with amounts lowered. Amber Heard's immediate future as an actor does not appear to allow her to pay money (10,350,000.00 usd) owed for the judgements regarding defamation, punishment and Depp's legal fees.

Full disclosure, it took me 2 semesters to pass one semester in college biology. So all I can offer are hypotheticals.

I am sure there are exceptions due to genetics or illness, but for athletes isn't there a biological range regarding muscle and bone density regarding XX or XY individuals of any age? There is so much emotion regarding trans individuals, why not reduce the verdict on participation in competition to numbers determined by an MRI or CT and a DEXA scan? There will always be exceptions, those can be addressed on a case by case basis.

While all the memes are deserved, unfortunately the point is completely lost on the target. Anybody remember what word Kim K. was going to copyright regarding her shape-wear line? Suffice it to say, the action was beyond clueless and was a basically a massive ad for her new company at zero cost. The cost of any legal filings would be tax deductible by the U.S. tax service (IRS) as the legal matters would be business-related.  The current owner of this gown, is not a prestigious museum or a fashion institute. The current owner is a place that showcases "...animal oddities, pop-culture memorabilia...".  So the blame does not start with Kim.

Well the new studio is no longer suitable for the next "Saw" or "Halloween" movie, but it looks fantastic for filming, especially with keeping the touches like the original beams. I hope to also make make it to the Boston event, perhaps in *non-competitive (*euphemism for "I cannot sew") cosplay. I assembled my outfit from thrift shops and Amazon **BEFORE the pandemic (**another euphemism for before I consumed most of the ice cream in my area of the Northeast, U.S.). Congrats on the reno, it was fun to see the before and after. BTW loved that lace blouse.

I completely agree with Dr. Grande. It appears that Laundrie was clueless and self-centered literally to the end. Strangulation is not a quick way to kill or a quick way to die. I hope the release of the contents of this notebook make a difference. Especially concerning law enforcement behavior when a couple obviously in distress are stopped or interact with police. A social worker/professional in psychological evaluations should be immediately consulted before a couple is released. Legally the Laundrie parents seem immune to punishment, but probably not immune to the results that appear when their last name is Googled.

Everything said is so very true. Your home is never clean for long. As for the cage itself, well I would need a timer in microseconds to come up with that number. I have had recent deaths, so I truly understand the down times. However when my pig or my chinchilla (separate cages) responds to her name, licks me and just looks cute, I know that I will continue to share my life (and surrender my OCD) to being around such cuteness.

Amber Briggle is right, no one was paying attention. We can no longer laugh at antiquated views or stupidity or ignore prejudice, unfortunately that gives this "virus" time to spread. The only vaccine I can think of is being an active voter and thoroughly investigating the policy statement of the people that you vote for in an election. In the meantime, I hope ACLU and Lambda Legal organize a class action suit. Last time I checked, at least for the moment, in the U.S. we are considered innocent until proven guilty (amendment 5 to the U.S. constitution).

The Green Day singer (Billie Joe Armstrong) has every right to renounce his U.S. citizenship. While he will never read this, I would ask him to continue his U.S. citizenship. We are in dire need of strong, passionate and intelligent people to vote our current slate of politicians who have more hubris than brains out of office.  As for Alec Baldwin interviewing Woody Allen, (full disclosure: I did giggle at the thought of this happening) their total lack of self-awareness exceeds whatever talent either or both possess.  Sorry I have been ranting a lot lately.

I heard the Monroe dress was "too pricey" for a museum budget, but that is hearsay. Ripley and Kim K. wanted buzz and widespread advertising their respective brands, so for level attained. It might have been nice if Kim could have bought and donated the gown to a museum like the MET after ordering a replica (that fit her pre-crash diet weight) for the 2022 gala. It also might have been nice if Kim did not announce publicly that she had to lose so much weight so quickly, simply to fit into a dress. Supposedly Thomas Jefferson (the 3rd president of the U.S.) said that, “The government you elect is the government you deserve." I guess you can also rewrite this quotation to say that the celebrities that we raise up are the celebrities that we deserve.

Billie Eilish wore a very in-theme designed gown that also publicized recycling with its being composed of "dead-stock" fabrics and remnants. I would have been more impressed with Kim Kardashian had she bought and donated the original dress to the Met while wearing only its replica to the Gala thus advertising her donation to posterity. Unfortunately while Kim may be a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, mother and even person (anything is possible), this behavior emphasized a need for self-promotion for Kim and her family that is put above all other considerations.

I prefer an Emily D. Baker commentary as opposed to the defendant's or the plaintiff's  PR firm version. Multiverses are difficult enough to translate via CGI in movies. Let's stay on point in this universe. I do not need a Greek Chorus of anyone's annoyingly verbose PR team restating anything. I dislike this whole trial, yet it has fixated my attention.

I am on neither side in this mess. I have been avoiding much of Amber's testimony as whether fabricated or true, it is triggering for me. However I really hope the jury finds for neither party and that the judge tells both to go to their own homes, see their own analysts and try to rebuild their own lives without mentioning the name of their ex or reference this badly written Shakespearean tragedy...ever.

QUESTION: I know that Virginia doesn't have very powerful Anti-SLAPP laws, but can this judge prevent both parties from ever again filing any variant of this suit in Commonwealth of Virginia?

As for the mistake by one, Bill Gates made 2 huge errors, his affair with an employee and of course his connection to Jeffrey Epstein. Not sure, this may have been a rumor, but I believe that there was something about the Gates Foundation not funding locally manufactured vaccines during the early variants (pre-Omicron) of COVID.

I agree that this dress should have been sold to a museum at an affordable price. Not sold to an exhibitor with a problematic history. I understand that it is not like Kim broke into Ripley's and appropriated both the copy AND the original.  However I still blame the Kardashian clan for doing something that they shouldn't have done, just because they can. I suppose that we all (those who have viewed the Kardashian reality shows) share some responsibility for the creatures that we have helped create, but it just all feels so wrong, at best clueless, at worst self-entitlement. In a world that feels so unsafe, so unfair it would have been so uplifting had the Kardashians purchased the gown and copy, donated both to the Met, taken a huge tax deduction and improved their karma.

The history behind the designers and actual Gilded Age was fascinating. Carey Mulligan's look is my new favorite. I had not seen it on other sites. I appreciated learning about the meaning of the fashion worn by Cynthia Erivo and Erykah Badu. I had not known there was an actual law about what women of a certain race were allowed to wear. Ironically in my news feed I just saw what happened in Afghanistan regarding what women were allowed to wear. Maybe the next Met theme should be unnecessarily restrictive clothing laws put in place by small-minded (and probably small-brained) men. Maybe it would not be colorful or exciting, but it might prove enlightening!😉

Saw Law & Lumber on today's (05/16/2022) Emily D. Baker live commentary on Depp vs. Heard. Giving details concerning the jurors was fascinating. While I have zero interest or need-to-know on any personal or confidential juror data, getting generalized data on age, sex (he/him, she/her, they/them) and physical appearance is tantalizing regarding how each juror might absorb the facts of this case. While I have not kept up with all of it, recent testimony seems seem to run not in a gamut but in only the end points of being either snooze-inducing or an adrenaline-rush.

I would say a mix one day legal (prominent historical/current trials), one day wood (tools/techniques/qualities) would be interesting. However the legendary You Tube algorithm works in mysterious ways, so asking Emily how to organize your content to result in the highest views would be productive. I would cultivate (be friendly, be professional and be helpful) to any You Tube execs or workers you interact with because there will come the day, that someone will randomly pull a video for being too "inflammatory" or copyright strike you for using an extra second or two of problematic (aka owned/claimed) video/audio clips.

Like any war, both parties have essentially lost before they began hostilities. They lost logic, kindness, intellect and even themselves. They will both be forever changed, maybe even damaged by this lawsuit. I hope neither wins and that they both go on a retreat (separately) to regain themselves and their lives. Practically and factually, Depp's side seems to have the best chance of "winning". However the jury, with their own prejudices, life experiences and views, will make the final call. I am not certain that as in a criminal case, in a civil case a judge can overrule a verdict. Whatever this lawsuit needs to end, permanently.

posted to Building Integrity (RE: 16days before Surfside Collapse-Warning Signs) uploaded 05/16/2022

I highly doubt that this would happen, but revamped municipal laws regarding construction, maintenance and (done by) 3rd party stability checks every 5 years of condo/apartment high-rises would be the only answer to prevent this tragedy from reoccurring . Private individuals from the original (not the "new") homeowners association all the way to the buildings' owners, their insurance companies, engineering companies all failed, either spectacularly or just in a "not getting involved" attitude. As for a criminal case, while it might benefit the current survivors and victims' families of this tragedy, the only long term solution, short of having the mega corporations execs getting an empathy implant, would be to legally enforce proper methods, materials and maintenance of high rise structures. In other words make it advantageous tax-wise to do the right thing.

As for me personally, I might be slightly creeped out or even sad (thus taking me out of the movie) with a CGI Stan. What I would like to see is a hidden easter egg in the closing credits printing something like, "Thanks Stan or We will always love you Stan" mixed among all the individuals who helped create the movie. A side benefit would be everyone staying and studiously studying all the (non-video) closing credits. I believe that a yelled out comment, "Hey I found Stan" might have made Stan smile.

posted to Dr. John Campbell (RE: SubVariants of Omicron BA 5 ) uploaded 05/20/2022

I too have found it curious, that the vaccine has not been reformulated for Omicron. My science education background, is inadequate (even after watching this channel for 6 months) to totally understand the costs and expertise involved, but as shown in this article by the New England Journal of Medicine:     https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2119451 the vaccines are just not as effective against any of the Omicron variants. A preliminary Google search did not supply me with any answers.  I  have had 2 doses of Moderna along with "the booster" (aka 3rd dose). I do not intend to get any further COVID vaccinations until I know that the formulation has changed. QUESTION: Are Pfizer, Moderna, J&J updating their vaccines?

posted to Rachel Maksy (RE: Journal painting) uploaded to You Tube on  05/20/2022

Loved the images of a New England forest. Are they catalogued with date, time and place? Seriously they are beautiful images that require provenance. Documenting the house's evolution might be fun (well educational then)? BTW just before the X-Files theme played, I did wonder about security. There was a Sasquatch vibe of the movement of those particular humanoids.😉

As for the word "perfect" used in connection with typical New England weather, well beyond our November - April winter (only slightly exaggerating) and 2 weeks in July or August (not usually both months) it feels like the Amazon jumped several borders and ended up in New England. For any other days, we  get a "weather buffet". This odd, one might even say "bipolar" (sorry, no slights intended, I am OCD) condition has caused me to turn my car into a moving closet containing numerous articles of coats, jackets and boots. Perhaps our region deserves its own motto, "New England...we got weather."

Posted to The Dodo (RE: Cat loves jumping into a bath) uploaded to You Tube 05/21/2022

I have two cats (BTW that I never bathe). While I do allow some "counter surfing" in the kitchen, when no food is present, if I turn on the faucet, feline departure is instantaneous. I even taught them the word "water". As in "I am going to turn the water on" and now that gets an immediate leap off of the counter. Some people feel cats are untrainable, which is not a fair judgement. Cats are simply pragmatic and very "quid pro quo".

Posted to Emily D. Bakers Community page 05/22/2022 (Will Depp on stand Again hurt Heard)

I also think it will help Depp's side and hurt Heard's side. If Elaine Bredehoft is doing the questioning, (not another attorney on the Heard team) then I am totally mystified. Ms. Bredehoft's questionable style with witnesses along with her questionable client makes for any session with Depp problematic at the very least, case losing at the most. I still feel that the best conclusion for this case is for neither side to win. The extremely short attention span of social and news media, can hopefully allow each (former) litigant to live their own lives more effectively once this fiasco ends.

Posted to Dr. John Campbell (RE: U.S. long COVID-20% of Cases?) uploaded to You Tube 05/25/2022

That was my first thought also, regarding those CDC figures on long COVID. The percentage seemed quite high.  Agreed that data on the number of vaccinations received by this group would be helpful, especially for future pandemic planning. QUESTION: Could that 1 in 5 stat be more applicable to those who recovered from the original and Delta strains? It might simply be that Omicron recovered patients may not have mentioned lingering symptoms to their physicians, or been spoken about in news media. QUESTION: Perhaps vaccination might have limited the damage of long COVID?  I get a majority of my virus education from this channel, so thank you to Dr. Campbell.

Posted to The Try Guys (RE: living in a mansion for one day) uploaded to You Tube 05/25/2022

What would I do with a house like that? Probably try to flip it asap. If any prospective buyer asks what an average year of utilities and taxes are, do not wait for their credit/bank report, these people cannot afford this mansion. Two years later (or longer as people are currently moving to places like Washington (State), Arizona and Texas not Cali) after the sale to an old money Prince or a new Tech Lord, I would find a smaller home with more (unbuilt) land, ginormous fence and live-in security service. Even with my rant (Real Estate-PTSD), it was still fun to take the virtual tour. If this mansion sells, do The Try Guys get a commission?

posted to Dr. John Campbell  (RE: Benefits of Vitamin D) uploaded to You Tube 05/29/2022

Pharmaceutical corporations' power to influence government (I live in U.S.) is immense. Also there is the incomprehensible advertising on cable TV (not streaming) with specific drug suggestions (as in brand names) for patients to bring to their physicians. The even bigger failure in the U.S. is avoiding a heavy dose of prevention. We are reactive not proactive. This fact makes me a little concerned about my country's reaction to the inevitable next pandemic.

Posted to Dr. Todd Grande (RE: Closing Remarks in Heard/Depp Defamation Trial) 05/27/2022

Dr. Grande's analysis is spot on. Two damaged people got married, could not communicate, got divorced and forced us (well social and news media helped) to participate in the autopsy of their relationship. I hope that whatever the verdict turns out to be ends this exercise in narcissism and overspending (for attorneys and for clean-up crew at their various residences).

Posted to Mama Doctor Jones (RE: Historical Pregnancy Tests) uploaded 05/30/2022

Awww I thought Hippocrates was better than that, believing in the accuracy of the water/honey test. The only reason I can think of,(to save his rep), is that he probably observed that many pregnant women are nauseous especially in (at least) the first trimester. I am guessing that drinking honey and water would cause anyone even feeling slightly queasy to vomit.

I also do not believe that this reading is boring. Some celebrities have a habit of being out of control and simultaneously out of touch, but not Millie Bobby Brown. Even as a child actress she seemed to know who she was and where she wanted to go. This reading confirmed my impression of her. I guess, we are just not used to famous people having their act together!

Dr. John Campbell (RE: XE Recombination Arrives) uploaded to You Tube April 3 2022

I admit I got somewhat confused in the beginning (@4:5l) with X = Delta, but what helped was reading page 12 of the UK Health Security Agency (is 1st link in Dr. Campbell's description). I did not even open the link to WHO report. Admittedly I only read about 15 pages of the UK report, but as Dr. Campbell said right now the only difference is increased transmissibility. QUESTION: I am still curious to know if there are any "long COVID" cases from people who have recovered from an Omicron based variant. Some sites indicate extensive rest when recovering from COVID, others want to get you into physical therapy immediately (sorry I have no links). A HUGE thank you to Dr. Campbell for reading the UK and WHO reports in  their entirety. ❤️

Costuming Drama (RE: Starting 1780's White Stays) uploaded March 31, 2022

I am so not in the league of the level attained in these videos, but I find the sewing both calming and entertaining. It also helps instigate a teeny amount of creativity in me. When I score a buried treasure at thrift/recycle places I am thrilled. There are so many garments that are too long or too wide or bedazzled by seemingly thousands of people or have buttons that somehow have negative charisma. Seeing the "good bones" hidden amongst the chaos always gives me a boost.

Just watched the first episode of Moon Knight (Disney+) and LOVED it. Sadly it is being released as one episode per week (Total of 6 in season). As for Outlander, after 2 seasons I got a bit played out with the concept. Being curious though I caught up with some of the high points on You Tube of all places. These videos are short (5 - 6 minute) segments, that can basically take you up-to-date without the pain of long plaintive looks, some whining and people becoming overwrought in multiple timelines. Admittedly Outlander is the definitive guilty pleasure.

Dr. Todd Grande (RE: Body Language Analysts on Will Smith) uploaded April 3, 2022

Dr. Grande is correct in that different cultures, nationalities, have their own body language and informal verbal language (as in colloquialisms). For example not making eye contact does not automatically mean liar, it could mean Asperger's (a higher functioning form of Autism), a person who culturally has been trained that way or just someone who is tired. Body language analysis is useful, but at this point is not up to the Minority Report (2002 movie) level. It basically is just an additional tool in an investigation. When done by a professional the elements of body language, vocal tone and word usage is noted. These categories are more relevant for interrogators of criminals, people of interest to authorities and, ironically, job interviewees/interviewers.

The Amber Ruffin Show (RE: Back To Work song) uploaded to You Tube April 1, 2022

Great song, but I give people one week back at their offices until they re-discover the claustrophobia (ironically also with a lack of privacy when discussing certain physical issues on your phone with your primary care) of cubicles, having your lunch disappear (or worse get 1/2 eaten) from the company fridge and the bathrooms that seemingly randomly decide today is a good day to flush up when you ate a burrito for lunch.

Jeremy Jahns (RE: Morbius - Movie Review) Uploaded to You Tube 03/30/2022

These days between expense, viruses and (yes, I will admit it) laziness, this is not a movie that would cause me to visit a theater. I will see it at home where I have powers...ff, pause and rewind. I am sure that the heavy editing by SONY did not help. They probably wanted a PG-13 rating and a movie that was easy to schedule at theaters. Jeremy's phrase, "MacGuffin blood" is an extremely economical and descriptive review. However, one that will not be placed on a poster or PR clip. Sorry Jeremy. BTW Great antihero hair.

So many QUESTIONS and clarification needed as I do not understand the self insured part regarding the law firm: (1) Attorney Firm "GK" simply informs State "C" we got insurance which makes everything ok with State "C" (Go try to install a pool or add on a room in State "C" without reams of paperwork and fees)? (2) State "C" Bar association is fine with firm just saying "yup we insured", also?  (3) Is that the same legally with all licensed professionals, even medical?  When a wound is putrid, often a surgeon will have to remove all contents in and around the wound to properly allow area to heal and regain proper use. Looking at you State "C" and State "C" - Bar association.

Philip DeFranco (RE: Elon Musk Buys majority [9%]share in Twitter) uploaded You Tube 04/04/2022

As for Elon Musk buying a majority share in Twitter, maybe I should be concerned but right now I am not. As for bringing back Trump in the name of free speech, I do not want to bring back my past migraines, I do not want to bring back a past health risk and I do not want to increase toxic waste. I will put it this way, let's say you live with 3 indoor-only cats in your home, now remove all litter boxes (metaphor spoiler:  remove Trump's lifetime ban). Now look around you, is this really how you wish to spend the rest of your life?

Smokey Glow (RE: Life Status Update) uploaded to You Tube 04/08/2022

Self-care is not selfish. Career stress along with planning a big wedding, buying a home and recently losing a loved one is probably the top tier of all stressors.  A "hi there" on Instagram while holding the puppies is probably enough of a reminder for subscribers that one is still out there. I do enjoy the long form videos, with past events, current status and a dash of "what if".  An additional way to monetize these videos is to self-publish an e-book or go through an agent. The plus side would be these "histories" would be copyright protected and saved in another mode. However on the negative side, some people love to sue for libel. I am sure the book could be vetted to avoid that legal pitfall. Simply storing these videos on a personal computer/cloud (not solely on You Tube channel) still has value as a portfolio to show an editor, book publisher or any potential client/employer a full skill set.

Breakfast All Day (RE: Review of "The Bubble") uploaded to You Tube 04/08/2022

Maybe I was in the right mood, but I found it hysterical. (It has been a looong quarantine, quite possibly I have lost some vital neurons.) Is there a better, more intelligent, clever, even funny story to be told, sure. I took this movie as more of a bat***t crazy view of corporations that desperately desire movies to be highly profitable commodities that are only there to earn money for the stockholders and golden parachutes. Entertainment, creativity, story telling, nuance not in their job descriptions or goals. COVID issues were only the green screen, not the objective.

David Chen (RE: Review of "Morbius) uploaded to You Tube 04/03/2022

I appreciated this discussion,  Patrick and David are often far funnier and smarter than the movies themselves. I have been watching many reviews on this movie (I am waiting until Morbius streams rather than visit a theater). Critics are mostly coming up with the same complaint editing/continuity...for time, for PG-13 rating and of course to make a profit. Investors should make a profit, but had more time and (I really want to say blood)...ok blood into the creation of this movie perhaps they could have made that elusive unicorn appear in the form of a (new) successful film IP.

Dr. Todd Grande (RE: Depp vs. Heard Trial) uploaded to You Tube 04/16/2022

The only good that came out of the Depp and Heard relationship was that there were no children born to or adopted by the couple . At least that area of collateral damage has been avoided. Best result of this trial would be that both be given a long-term restraining orders against the other. Worst result would be a mistrial or no definitive end to this situation. Even more horrific, would be the creation of a movie or series featuring these 2 individuals and their relationship.

SimplyPodLogical (RE: AITA selections from reddit) uploaded to You Tube 04/19/2022

I do love hearing the discourse on AITA. Some posts seem to defy logic. My hypothesis is that some are a first draft of an assignment to be submitted to a class on creative writing. I mean the guy who locked up his clothing? I desperately wanted to know who was doing his laundry at that point. There is a high bar on weird regarding weddings, but still that story seemed really odd as finances and venue were not an issue. Anyway, these stories make me laugh, an invaluable commodity these days, so thank you!

Mia Maples (RE: Community Post about late video and Grandpa) uploaded to You Tube 04/21/2022

While I look forward to all the Mia videos (especially when Mom "co-stars"), You Tubers are people first and people have commitments in the real (aka non social media) world.  Dementia can vary in both the speed of its progression and its debilitating effect, but very often the oldest memories stay intact the longest. See if your Grandpa can tell you stories from his childhood and young adulthood. If he is comfortable, make a video recording or maybe if cameras scare him do an audio tape. This would not be for us it would be for you and your family. I think that there is even an online service (sorry I do not remember the site) which is set up to interview the person involved in a very unstructured, low stress way. Sending love to you all....

Dr. John Campbell (RE: UK, Groundhog day) uploaded to You Tube 04/22/2022

It is disconcerting that many governments are either too wound up in bureaucracy to do proper immunity testing or even worse, perhaps there is thought that if governmental agencies admit that natural immunity is equally good regarding Omicron infection that everyone will refuse to get vaccinations for anything ever again. I feel that we were advised properly through the original strain and into the Delta variant regarding masks, quarantining and vaccination. Omicron (excepting for those with comorbidities of course) changed that reality. I am guessing scientists knew that fact, but did not trust us with the truth. Now more and more people are questioning any science. Thought and judgement seems to be in rare supply. It is all so sad.

Smoky Glow (RE: Family You Tube Channels) uploaded to You Tube 04/24/2022

I would like to ask that family or anyone, what is their opinion on executions, universal health care, subsidized daycare and sex ed? Basically if you want EVERY pregnancy to never be terminated you have to involve yourself in finding effective solutions to those other issues.

Dr. John Campbell (RE: Putin's invasion of Ukraine) uploaded to You Tube 02/28/2022

Thank you to Dr. Campbell and Vlad for this informative video. Medical news presented fairly and clearly is clearly not Dr. Campbell's only skill!

While I knew that Putin was not insane, I felt that there was something off in him. Knowing that his global view is so binary is terrifying. He must view the United Nations or even food donations as treacherous and traitorous. Sadly this makes the Kursk incident (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kursk_submarine_disaster) make a kind of perverse sense. Hearing the words that "Putin is bombing and killing his own people" is chilling. I had been against all the media coverage of the war, thinking that it was making views and money out of tragedy. Maybe it is, however it will also flood so many electronic pathways into Russia that it just may cause a course change that the sycophants in Putin's government do not dare or care to suggest.

Molly Burke (RE: Q&A on Breakups) uploaded to You Tube 03/01/2022

POSTED TO MOLLY'S pinned Q:  Advice on breakups
Give yourself a "vacation" from the grief and pain, which are natural emotions but can be toxic if you get caught in a loop. Do something frivolous whether it is binging a season of a series, buying/using a way too expensive candle or literally a walk in the park where you can think of the here and now not the past or the what if. BTW I would love to hear about experiences regarding dating all kinds of people whatever their physical situation. My visual disability is relatively minor but does impact my daily life. Explaining the same thing repeatedly can become emotionally exhausting, when you do not "look" disabled. Makes me remember waaay back when Molly had videos on people who did not believe that she was blind.

POSTED TO MOLLY'S video on Q&A -- Breakups
Ghosting is hard to manage emotionally. You cannot have that final conversation giving answers with someone who emotionally and literally is just not there. Without malice or anger, I have blocked, muted or simply ignored news of the "ex", to save my sanity and my soul. If the two of you shared acquaintances, a neighborhood or even worse a workplace, get help from friends. Do not try to go it alone.

Let's Talk IBD (RE: Cooking and Meals) uploaded to You Tube 03/01/2022

I too have burned a pot in my time. I was hard boiling eggs and got a little too aggressive on the temperature controls while simultaneously being a little lazy on the water distribution. Fortunately the result was only comedic not catastrophic. I wonder if someone with IBD not being lactose-intolerant is rare, common or just the same as everyone else? I have to block out time and take a pill before I consume any dairy item. Human metabolisms are quite odd sometimes. I always blame it on our cavemen ancestors. We may have better nutrition and health than those guys, but basically we still are the same internally.

Philip DeFranco (RE: Where do you get your news) uploaded to You Tube 03/04/2022

I get news from (not in order of importance, except for THE Mr. DeFranco's channel):   YouTube (Philip DeFranco, Katie Couric, Dr. John Campbell, Neal Katyal, CNN, NY TIMES, BBC and sometimes a ( U.S.) national network like ABC), Apps (CNN, NY TIMES, BBC, WSJ) and occasionally news pieces from "vetted" individuals on TikTok and Instagram.

I love how Ben is into everything, like a toddler with Gallop sitting in solid civilized adult support while Lavender is keeping everyone in line by appropriately dusting all within her view with cat fur. I wondered why there wasn't accompanying braille slips along with the visible english tags? Probably space, but who says vision boards/journals need to be low in page count?😉 It was enjoyable hearing someone clearly state their life goals and repartee with "Mom" (Nieve, but that means snow in...Spanish not Gaelic ! Maybe Niamh?). Love to you all (animals and humans).

Dr. John Campbell (RE:  Review, Infections and Complications) uploaded to You Tube 03/07/2022

It is a pleasant thought that at least one thing that threatens us globally is slowly diminishing. I worry that we have not learned enough. We need more testing accompanied by more data, so that the next time (and unfortunately history shows that will happen) we are prepared with a scientifically accurate protocol concerning diagnosis, immunization and treatment. Adding to my "wish list" would be a thorough study regarding the efficacy of aspiration in injections. I know that I have been quite fortunate, health-wise, through the last 2 - 3 years, but this has been all so defeating, depressing and terrifying. A huge THANK YOU to Dr. Campbell for disseminating apolitical yet scientific data to help explain this pandemic.

Dr. John Campbell (RE: Excess Mortality data) uploaded to You Tube 03/13/2022

I agree with Dr. Campbell in that we will need a plan for the next wave, in producing vaccines, allowing hospitals to treat both infected patients while treating the patients with disease not related to a pandemic along with a plan to keep massive contagion at a more manageable (by health care workers and institutions) levels. We do not, and have never had, the time to keep "reinventing the wheel" whenever contagious disease spreads. This is a very small planet, what affects (or infects) one group leads to consequences for us all.

Chris Stuckmann (RE: Turning Red movie review) uploaded to You Tube 03/13/2022

I enjoyed Turning Red. While a few characters, were somewhat hedging into DSM–5 (mental disorders) territory there was an arc for those characters that made them more relatable. My only complaint was the way the school kept "The Panda" a secret for seemingly days, at least a week+ (in kid time that is over a decade). However,  most viewers of an animated film are probably shelving their "WTF" and choosing wonder so I was fine with that anomaly.

NatalieLawyerChick (RE: Jussie Smolett sentencing) uploaded to You Tube 03/15/2022

QUESTION: Can a defendant demand a specific closing statement by their attorney? If so, must the attorney accede to the client's wishes, in spite of reservations by said attorney? I agree with NatalieLawyerChick, the words of the defense's closing statement seemed to echo Jussie Smollett''s opinions rather than help him to avoid incarceration.

Smollett, due to his fame (and infamy), will cause the implementation of additional security measures further draining budgetary amounts that would be better served elsewhere. Send Mr. Smollett to perform public service in homeless shelters, food banks and free medical clinics for a LONG time...along with an appropriate fee (above the $10,000 that was forfeited) being paid by Mr. Smollett to the city of Chicago.

Observe (RE: Jeff Wittke on David Dobrik) uploaded to You Tube 03/15/2022

Thank you for analyzing the Jeff Wittek video.  I feel that Jeff Wittek (age 32 as of this post) feels embarrassed and ashamed that he so blindly followed David Dobrik (age 25 as of this post) for so long. Perhaps it is that guilt, diminished self-confidence, that is showing through his body language as not being 100% honest in some topics such as "the roast".  Mr Wittek is correct, unless there is a substantial change in David Dobrik and his group, this, or something, will happen again. Sadly David Dobrik keeps bouncing back from scandals any one of which would ordinarily get an influencer "canceled", so I have doubts that he will change until a serious accident becomes something far worse. At that point, redemption may not be possible.

Dr. Todd Grande (RE: Jussie Smollett sentencing) uploaded to You Tube 03/16/2022

The lying, insisting on being correct, concocting an elaborately unbelievable story, reminds me of a 3 year old child who has been caught misbehaving.  Ironically Jussie Smollett wanted to be more, more famous, more wealthy, more loved. Being a recognizable actor on a famous show is what made the police over-react and most likely this notoriety is what put him into jail. He has done damage, the best punishment is to try to get him mentally healthy. Although if he did reach that level of self-awareness, he would probably need more therapy to handle the guilt and the shame of his past actions.

Rachel Maksy (RE: new hair color) uploaded to You Tube 03/18/2022

About 8 months ago, I felt that my solitary confinement needed an upgrade, so I went for pink hair. We are talking roots to the middle of my back...PINK hair. No one spoke to me, glanced at me or appeared appalled by me on my several forays into the wilds of the grocery store. Of course it helped that I wore a hoodie, a KN95 mask and appeared slightly crazed in my dash dodging viruses (yeah I know it doesn't work that way) through the store. So a little hair dye on a channel that I always find interesting is just another day. Appreciate all sharing with the home reno...seeing transformations (personal or architectural) is always fun.

LegalEagle (RE: Tucker asking for LSAT scores) uploaded to You Tube 03/18/2022

I am not a fan of Tucker Carlson, video clips of his broadcasts feature random, bizarre and nonsensical statements...even for a Tucker tirade. He is derivative, deranged and just plain dumb, but he knows self-promotion. My guess is that he expels these odd soundbites to get them replayed on other media organizations and channels for free advertising and material he can address on a future program. So, mischief managed ?

RedLetterMedia (RE: Bruce Willis movies/rumor of dementia) uploaded to You Tube 03/20/2022

For whatever reasons Bruce Willis is apparently making a movie every 3 weeks, as a film fan I feel that he deserves a "get out of movie jail forever" card for his participation in Die Hard, The Sixth Sense and (one of my favorite movies) The Fifth Element. Besides, look at his face, his eyes in some of these clips, he knows that he is in a c*** movie. As long as he is in on the joke, then I say keep making sarcastic, ironic comments about these movies of a lesser craft.

Dr. John Campbell (RE:International COVID disease spread ) uploaded to You Tube 03/20/2022

Thank you for mentioning that you are on the look out for "long Covid" cases from the Omicron variant. As far as I can determine, through casual not scholarly reading, all the statements regarding the damage left by COVID seems to be from the ones who got it before Omicron popped.  I wonder if anyone has studied whether people who have the Omicron (most populations) variant were free from the cytokine storm that put so many people on ventilators during the Delta portion of our pandemic? Perhaps an absence from Omicron variant, might lead towards effective treatment protocols for those who had Delta? I also would be interested in what kind of research and treatment is being done for those who actually had up a reaction to the vaccine itself to go on to develop myocarditis, pericarditis, or cardiac arrhythmias? We need to learn so much from this, because it will happen again.

Dr. John Campbell (RE: 4th Vaccine Dose) uploaded to You Tube 03/22/2022

I agree with Dr. Campbell in that wouldn't a test to measure our level of resistance to COVID be done first?  Perhaps those immunosuppressed due to ongoing medical condition(s) should be given an additional booster, along with anyone living in care home. However for the rest of us, why? Jessica's (Queensland, Australia) data was interesting and I think I see where the data is pointing. However as she said, this data should be reviewed by medical professionals and statisticians before the internet takes up its virtual torches and marches to the proverbial castle.

BTW wasn't there at least a palliative effect to Long COVID suffers when given a vaccine (or booster)? I am not sure if that was proven to be a placebo effect, dismissed as apocryphal, or simply did not qualify as scientific data.

NEXT LATEX PROJECT: Galadriel and Arwen gowns, from LOTR (specifically costumes from the 2001 The Fellowship of the Ring movie) or go in another direction with more tailored outfit such as what  Éowyn  wore into battle (The Return of The King) to--->SPOILERS---> kill the Witch-king of Angmar?  (Sigh, I am such a nerd.)

Dr. Todd Grande (RE: Death of Barbara Gustern) uploaded to You Tube 03/24/2022

I agree in that the issues of  this woman not playing well with others in second grade or derided by her neighbors, still is not enough of an explanation for me. Catching a taxi and potentially losing it may be annoying, but unlike that proverbial chicken we do know why Lauren crossed the road. I am sure Uber, Lyft and other ride shares were just minutes away from being acquired. Hopefully she gets more time in anger management class, community service then jail. The last thing that any community she may relocate to needs is angry person with fighting skills. Also I think Dad should spring for a considerable amount of restitution. Maybe a 4 year scholarship to Juilliard in the name of Barbara Gustern?  (The deceased,  Barbara Maier Gustern, was a famous Broadway vocal coach.)

Emily D. Baker (RE: Vanderbilt Nurse found guilty) uploaded to You Tube 03/25/2022

I am not saying that the Vanderbilt (now ex-) nurse should be imprisoned for this particular error, but a Google search (yes I know its the internet) mentioned that this nurse could not find Versed in the automatic medication dispenser. Her next action was to do an override which ended up with Vecuronium which she mistakenly administered to the patient. I think the override played a major part in her conviction. Yes she could have been exhausted, but made the override choice.  Prosecution also made the point that this nurse did not properly monitor the patient. Antphrodite (RE: Kitsune/killing stone opened in Japan) uploaded to You Tube 03/25/2022

I only know what a quick Google-search produced regarding the kitsune. Sounds like they are rather pragmatic in their treatment of humans. Basically you want the spirit on your side which can be accomplished with a good deed (not necessarily anything evil) benefiting the kitsune.
This reading sounds probable as history is written by the winners. A powerful human outside the stone not the spirit within, would have been alive and in charge of the narrative. Judging by certain recent national and international events, the perpetrator (or monster/demon) might look just like us.
SUGGESTION: While at first card reading on mythology and/or ancient history seemed odd, the readings seem to result in very plausible possibilities.I know there have been several readings on historical people and places, but there are countless myths and tales which resulted in literature, sculptures and even whole societies on which it would be fascinating to get alternate origin theories.

WFLA News Channel 8(RE:Boy who fell to his death on a park ride) uploaded to You Tube 03/25/2022

When I get into my car and do not engage seat belt, lights blink all over my dashboard accompanied by an annoying pinging sound. This is very old tech. So a device that could potentially kill multiple riders has its only safeguard being a probably underpaid, undertrained, bored and obviously unsupervised single human being? Images look like the harness was not engaged. Why wasn't there a safeguard within the ride's system to prevent engagement of ride without every (even empty) seats being properly secured? This child's death could have been so easily prevented with several lines of computer code.

Breakfast All Day movie reviews (RE: Will Smith slapped Chris Rock)  You Tube 03/28/2022

I agree you just don't hit another person because you do not like what they say. That was a lesson taught in my pre-school. Chris Rock told a bad joke, a stupid joke (referenced a 1997 movie?!), but there were other ways for Will Smith to "connect" with Chris Rock. Will Smith is (maybe was) a very powerful figure in Hollywood. I agree with Alonso, watching someone lose it on live TV and that someone be as media savvy and as self-aware as Will Smith, made me question my own perception of this event.  I thought that Sean Penn's statement would be the weirdest thing that happened regarding the 2022 Oscars. Mr. Penn spoke about melting down his Oscar if Volodymyr Zelenskyy was not invited or allowed to speak at the Oscars telecast.

Dr. Todd Grande (RE: Will Smith slapped Chris Rock) uploaded to You Tube 03/28/2022

QUESTION: The behavior shown by the Academy Awards audience is interesting. Is it also typical for a large group?  They were compliant, agreeable and even polite (clapping/standing ovation). Examining the behavior of large groups in a public setting during a stressful situation, might prove interesting. Why as a group would everyone be so acceptable with unacceptable behavior? Is it the safety and anonymity (in a group of mostly famous people perhaps being famous makes one in effect, anonymous) of the group?

Philip DeFranco (RE: response to pinned comment about "The Slap") uploaded to You Tube 02/18/2022

Chris Rock told a stupid, clueless joke referencing a movie that is over 20 years out of date with current times. I do not know who wrote the joke, but check Jada's IMDb, potential of Matrix jokes is immense. Obviously the G.I. Jane comment would also be a cruel joke if Mr. Rock knew about Jada's Alopecia (I did not know, but I hear it was discussed frequently on Jada's show, Red Table) Will Smith basically committed a felony when with his money and his influence he could have "educated" Chris Rock far more effectively (and legally).

Internet Today (RE: Oscar News) uploaded to You Tube 03/28/2022

I resent the fact that Australia and Japan are considered mature enough to receive an uncensored transmission of an Oscar telecast featuring an adult acting like a recalcitrant pre-k toddler and another adult making a random not funny joke referencing a movie not exactly in the current zeitgeist. This plus that Oscar Twitter poll and Sean Penn threatening to melt down his Oscar makes me feel that everyone involved needs to take an extended time out.

Legal Eagle (RE: Will Smith slapping Chris Rock) uploaded to You Tube 03/29/2022

QUESTIONS: Is there grounds for a class action suit against Will Smith? Could, for example, The League of Traveling Comedians (I just made that up) sue Will Smith for making their comedy performances now at risk for crazed copycats? Could, for example, The Confederation of Clubs and Pubs (also just made up) sue Will Smith for making them pay for broken crockery, extra security and higher insurance rates?
As for the award, with the amount of questionable winners (did Harvey Weinstein lose his Oscar?) maybe let him keep it or better yet instruct Mr. Smith to regift the award to King Richard's director, writer or more ethically to the Williams family.

John Campea (RE: What should Will Smith's punishment be) uploaded to You Tube 03/29/2022

I do agree with Will Smith keeping his Oscar. However I disagree with the Academy not removing him from the audience immediately. The most significant punishment would have been to deny him being imaged on stage holding the Oscar AND making any acceptance speech. All they had to do was run a couple of commercials during which authorities could politely indicate that Will Smith depart immediately in the custody of his wife. Will Smith could have put his apology on his social media accounts in the limo going home. Since we cannot turn back time, Will Smith should lose his membership in the Academy for a period of time. Who knows what crazy copycats in the next 12 - 24 months will try to do a "Will Smith" in a club or theater. They have to make an example of him. If Smith was having a reaction to some medication, fine advertise the h*** out of that condition as an explanation. Otherwise he must be suspended from the Academy for a period of time.

Dr. John Campbell (RE: UK Surge Continues) uploaded to You Tube 03/29/2022

QUESTION: Could an entire program be devoted to the efficacy of a 2nd booster (aka 4th dose of COVID vaccine). I know that there has been brief coverage of this matter on this channel, but I could use a refresher with any new data. I have had 2 vaccines and 1 booster (Moderna). I am due to go to a convention in April 2022. I may have had COVID in its early days (would have definitely been the Delta variant).  I have a comorbidity (not diabetes, not obesity). I will try to do research on my own, however I would love to see a followup on this channel.

Emily D. Baker (RE: Community Page/Will Smith asked to leave) uploaded to You Tube 03/30/2022

I heard that also WOW! It depends how Academy asked Will Smith to leave:
(1) Mr. Smith, are you feeling unwell? Do you wish to leave? <---questions (too deferential, seemingly powerless)
(2) Mr. Smith, please come with us now. <---statement (more powerful, less room for misunderstanding)

No to (1)  is understandable. No to (2)  says a lot about Will Smith's mental health and sense of entitlement.
Obviously (2) would indicate that there will (should) be major consequences.

NatalieLawyerChick (RE: Civil Suit against Laundrie parents) uploaded to You Tube 03/30/2022

This suit may not be viable, legally. Most likely this suit will be expensive and probably is not even tax deductible. However, it may be the only punishment the Laundrie family receives and it does keep Gabbie Petito and her untimely death in the minds of law enforcement and the general public. How much money are those factors worth to Gabbie's family and friends? I would guess, priceless.

BTW Interesting showcase (on Laundrie dismissal lawsuit) of the First Amendment (page 13 @1:57) regarding to speak or not to speak. My private, uneducated, internet theory is that the attorney did not wish to emphasize the Fifth Amendment as most (non-legal) people mistakenly assume that the person must be guilty as charged if they plead the Fifth. This firm seems to be very media savvy. They are aware that internet access to this lawsuit is relatively easy. Most people would have pause seeing the Fifth amendment mentioned. Instead this particular amendment was placed further down in the paragraph mentioning   "...First, Fifth and Sixth..."

Dan Murrell (RE: Review of Moon Knight episode 1) uploaded to You Tube 03/30/2022

Loved Moon Knight. I disagree with Dan in one aspect only, I believe most Marvel series should be at an 8 - 9 episode length. Perhaps at the conclusion of episode 6, I will say that count is perfect. I would rather see a story breathe, a new world's details explored and the arcs of not only the superhero and villain, but also the important secondary characters. I wonder if a 6 episode season is something more due to the accountants rather than the creatives?

John Campea (RE: Advance Reviews of Morbius) uploaded to You Tube 03/31/2022

I also haven't seen this movie. It was never going to get me into a theater, I am waiting for it stream.
The death knell (all puns intended) was rung on Morbius if the editors truly were instructed to remove all lifelines to other Marvel characters. It is sad to see Morbius suck, as he is such a long lived antihero (1971 intro in comics). What was the life span (last pun) of the deal with Sony?

Emily D. Baker (RE: Community Page/Will Smith sue for defamation?) You Tube 03/31/2022

Judging by all the he, she and they saids now out there, who knows who can sue for what? We don't yet know the full extent of the "what". (Guessing at least Aaron Sorkin and Adam McKay already have scripts in development.)
Let Smith keep his award, suspend him from the Academy for 2 years (reduced to 1 or less if he attends a substantial amount of  (non-Scientology) anger management classes. Chris Rock should write (or approve) better jokes, beyond a lazy tasteless joke he did nothing wrong. The Academy needs to hire a crisis management firm, a security training team and event producers with more sense and ethics.

Emily D. Baker (RE:  #shorts ----- Can Will Smith sue for defamation?) You Tube 03/31/2022

This thing is evolving like Rashomon (which ironically won an HONORARY Oscar in the early 1950's), but with less than epic acting, bad stunt work and an inferior soundtrack. I feel that "The Slap" will be a movie made by Adam McKay or Andrew Sorkin which will be filmed in late 2023 and released a month before ('cause these Academy people have memories worse than goldfish) the deadline for best picture 2024.

FEBRUARY 2022

Posted to Internet Today - News Dump   (RE: Holocaust) video uploaded to You Tube 02/04/2022

I thought that Whoopi Goldberg (BTW that is her stage name) was smarter than her comments indicated. While her personal history obviously is different from mine, both of us learned (or should have learned) the same history lesson regarding Germany in 1930's-40's. As for her 2 week "time out" from The View, I am not sure it is not solely for her self-reflection and enlightenment (or reading a relevant wiki). Rather that period is for the network's legal department to pour over her contract regarding its application in this instance. Meanwhile that same network's marketing department is checking the "numbers " (ratings) for The View.

Posted to Dr. John Campbell (RE: Recent Economics Paper on COVID lockdowns) uploaded 02/05/2022

I always felt that sheltering in place was more designed as a method to not overwhelm our healthcare system (am in U.S.) or infect those with limited/damaged immune systems (cancer patients, the elderly, asthmatic) than anything else. So sorry about the death of Dr. Campbell's father during this quarantine. I cannot even conceive of the  massive amount of emotional pain inflicted on those ill and those wishing to visit ill friends and relatives. I hope that those who reference this paper, are as fair-minded and as logical as Dr. Campbell has been in presenting the information to his subscribers.

Posted to Dr. Todd Grande (RE: Whoopi and Holocaust ) uploaded to You Tube on February 7, 2022

I was disappointed in Whoopi Goldberg in that I thought she was smarter than to make such a grossly inaccurate statement. Historically the motives of the Nazis and implementation of the death camps are quite clearly documented. Also in those camps were gay people, Roma (Gypsies) along with any intellectuals who were at odds with the master race theory of the Nazis. Should she be canceled or fired, no. However the 2-week "time out" puzzled me as it  seemed odd. Rather than hoping for enlightenment or education by Whoopi, ABC (network) legal department is pouring over Whoopi's contract to see if there are any applicable measures that can be taken. Simultaneously ABC marketing department may be checking out the ratings for The View along with getting opinions from advertisers who pay for commercial time on The View.  Ethics? Morality? Education? Mental Health?...no Money will decide how this all ends.

Complain often, loudly and even pull in favors from other You Tubers or any of Susan's co-workers to get this corrected. I have been a subscriber for several years and even the emotional/physical abuse stories are important to get out there. Giving these topics a protective layer of silence or invisibility will only keep alive misinformation and abuse. Be smart, be loud, be omnipresent on the screens of You Tube execs. This is not the time for gentility or acceptance.

Susan@You Tube, is this really the image that the corporation you represent and symbolizes wishes to portray? No compassion, ethics or fairness well then, let me appeal to your financial side. Lots of amputees (all ages) out there thanks to birth defects, disease, war and accidents, think of all the currency in ad views that represents?
So sorry that Footless Jo has been "chosen" by You Tube as not appropriate for all ages. This is not the world view that I hold. I am sure that I am not alone. Posted to Dan Murrell (RE: The Book of Boba Fett) uploaded to You Tube on February 9, 2022

I agree with Dan in that Disney probably should have been more circumspect regarding the promises of this series. Also there was somewhat of a continuity issue in this series. However, Dan a BIG NO regarding the Sarkacc Pit option 😉.

I did prefer the Tusken (flashback) portion of the story for the first half of the series. For the 2nd half, The Mandalorian/Grogu story line stood out.  I enjoyed how this series used a wide of group of characters and species from this universe. I agree with other comments, ditch those "Back To The Future" bikes belonging to the mods. The bikes should have looked more "aftermarket" or steampunk in appearance. A relatively minor complaint, but the appearance of these bikes did take me out of the story at every appearance. The old west shootout at the end with Cad Bane along with the convo with Fennec Shand gave me the motivation for the evolution of the Boba Fett. Think: (1) Boba watched his father die (2) Was trained by a psycho bounty hunter (3) became a psycho bounty hunter (4)was almost melted in acid (5) taken as a slave (6) fought his way to acceptance (7) faced with senseless the death of his tribe (8) had to almost die getting his armor back, I kind of think that Mr. Fett deserves his choice of a "retirement village".

BTW Loved the stinger in the closing credits.

Posted to John Campea (RE: Entertainment Weekly eliminates its print edition) February 12, 2022

I am sad, but I have not bought a print magazine or newspaper in years. So I have no right to complain. What I really miss is the editors and fact checkers. I find myself checking notifications on my news feed with other sources. These are not news alerts from WeGotNews4U.com (fake name as far as I know).  I fact check CNN, BBC, NY Times and Wall Street Journal. While I do not keep records, I would say the highest accuracy score on news of the day (both in article title, lead-in sentence and actual content) is Wall Street Journal.

LAST RESPONSE (aka gift): The question by the parole board member was a relatively short (even disinterested/bored) version of...did you do it. However her response sounded as if she was reciting a speech learned for a school play and  a not very well-acted school play either.  Just answering "No" was not in her script.  Oddly her voice after so long in prison sounded the same as when she was arrested. That makes me think, her vocal inflections, tones are  frequently practiced and reviewed to be sure she is on point.  She is one of the most horrific monsters that I have seen on video. I use the word "horrific" as she looks just like us.

I cringe when I hear people accepting 100% of the information Mr. Rogan presents and cringe even more when people wish to cancel his show. I like Dr. Grande's points of proposing that Spotify not only insert multiple disclaimers, but actually fact checks the information and making those results as public as JRE is. Actually these days, doing a quick search regarding those news notifications all over our phones is not a bad idea either. Sadly whether it is JRE or a nationally known news organization, clickbait is out there. However it is up to us, to find the truth.

Posted to Jessica Kellgren-Fozard (RE: 8 Montessori Items for an 8-month old) - YouTube 02/15/2022

All the Montessori items and viewpoints seem so logical and natural. I love how the floor bed benefits both the parents and the child. The only hesitation I would have with the floor bed are in-house animals (aka "pets"). While I imagine the door is closed to keep out the dogs, although by the video at least one of the dogs seems smitten with Rupert, I have always had cats who seemingly have never met a closed door they cannot master (unless securely bolted by the humans).  Would love to see more Montessori toys, which efficiently are also learning tools, in future videos. I know that this may sound weird, but I think that the Montessori methodology would help in care homes for those with degenerative brain diseases.

Posted to Jessica Kellgren-Fozard (RE: Breakfast at Tiffany's ) - uploaded to You Tube 02/11/2022

I read the book and saw the movie as a child of approximately 11 years. Even at that age I puzzled at the landlord character. It is interesting that while everyone is rightfully horrified at the Mickey Rooney "character" (MR. Yunioshi, even the honorific improper) in this movie, there is far less mention of how the character of George Peppard (Paul) was changed. In spite of all that, my memories of the film are fond and positive. As an adult, I am guessing that my opinions were formed by the beauty and charm of Audrey Hepburn that song that became resident in my brain for months and months. I most likely will leave this film as a childhood memory intact and not re-watch this film.

Same upload--posted to pinned comment by Jessica K-F:
So when the film was completed, the studio executives all sat in a room watched the awful image of a Japanese man portrayed in a cartoonish manner by a white man and said "we're good". Seems to emanate from another universe a millennia ago. As for the sexual-orientation changes, Truman Capote was probably being pragmatic. Of course he wanted to be paid and also wished to get some of the message out there, even if it was not intact. The best way to remove a barrier is by poking holes, weakening it. While a sudden explosive change may be more tempting, avoiding collateral damage would probably make the final result have a better chance of being permanent.

My vision is wonky (minimal depth perception) so ignoring a hole and on another day falling while jumping over a non-existent hole, are not uncommon in my life.Basically I scare people and/or make them laugh, depending on the walkway condition! Any way I can relate to the literal fallout from a fall. Hope things return to normality soon. I was afraid the absence was burnout (am not on twitter, too dangerous in that jungle).

This is such a sad story. With Emily sharing painful issues to prove a point while the other individual is seemingly fixated on Emily. The internet has super short memories, so reinvention is relatively easy. Whether a stalker or not, she should find a new road, in a healthier direction and move on. If the pandemic deaths have proved anything, it is that life is way too short and way too random.

Dr. John Campbell (RE: Cases declining rapidly in number) uploaded to You Tube 02/15/2022

QUESTION (apologies if this has already been addressed on this channel): Where did Delta go, as in gone or  simply "in-active"? I understand that it has been replaced by Omicron, but does that mean that Delta has been (or will soon be) obliterated as a deadly foe in a Darwinian-style? Even Omicron will most likely subside to manageable levels, but what will come back in the Fall and Winter of 2022?

I agree with Dr. Campbell, we need a coordinated global distribution of data that is scientifically correct, unemotional and apolitical that is accessible to all of us. I am weary of clickbait and pseudo-science.

Emily D. Baker (RE: Community Page post regarding Prince Andrew)  You Tube 02/14/2022

Sure in a movie he would be properly punished. However think about it, this is a man brought up to be 100% royal (no Diana to insist that the child be treated as "normally" as possible) who as an adult is now without all those perks. He has been left only with the sensationalism of being a royal. Did a close female relative perhaps contribute to the settlement? Probably, but I am sure it had to be done privately, as in not selling an 18th century crown or ancient sword. Losing his titles, his "place", but still out in the world is probably the worst punishment that could have been given. However as an American, my opinion is probably not relevant.

SimplyPodLogical (RE: Ottawa Occupation) uploaded to You Tube 02/08/2022

Thank you both for explaining the Ottawa Occupation to those of us from other countries. It pains me to think that our (U.S.) former president's followers may be (ironically) infecting Canada. Striping away politics, conspiracies, scientific facts and the inevitable rumors, we are left with an unimaginable amount of deaths, life with "long" COVID and global mental health issues. Perhaps my own solitary confinement has produced feelings that have affected my judgement, I will own that. Meanwhile here in the U.S. we face a national election in 2024, with the inevitable stupidity, unintelligible speeches and outright meanness by unprepared candidates in 2023.

Dr. John Campbell (RE: Natural Immunity) uploaded to You Tube 02/17/2022

Another Thank you to Dr. John Campbell and Dr. Pilz for making this complicated subject understandable (my science background is weak). I have had 3 doses of vaccine. While I think that I might also have had Delta variant, without an expensive test (I am in the U.S.) I will never know. However the vaccines have kept me safe so that I can get the statistically more survivable Omicron variant and probably get long-term immunity. I find the phrase "Hybrid Immunity" quite apt and hopefully apolitical! My first scheduled activity (a conference) is scheduled for April 2022. It has been a very long quarantine, I look forward to being with people in reality not just virtually.

Dr. John Campbell (RE: Adam/myocarditis) uploaded to You Tube 02/18/2022

I researched as much as I could before the first of my three doses of Moderna. I also kept track of my (minimal but observable) side effects. I knew the risks. I was joining the largest beta testing group of a vaccine in recent memory. Sadly, I have heard Adam's story before. The medical reactions of disbelief, sloppy diagnosis and a horrifically bad lack of focus on a patient's history is unconscionable. There is no excuse for ignorance, listening to a patient and talking history is something that is taught in a medical student's first year. I hope Adam recovers soon and can return to his life. Huge thanks to Dr. Campbell and Adam for publicizing and sharing this story.

Yes, I heard it also, Mr. Gates used the word "Sadly" and then the word "sad" . I "rewound" to be sure I heard correctly. So odd, it is a miracle that we now have the potential for Omicron (at least BA.1, hopefully .2 also) plus vaccination to get us into the endemic phase. Thanks to channels such as Dr. Campbell's, I feel somewhat more informed and have already booked attendance at a computer conference in April, 2022.

I have also been fascinated with this topic. I own none of these bags, but their allure, cachet and just plain passion for the acquisition of these bags is almost worthy of a PhD thesis. I am not doing that. The next best alternative is watching a well-researched Smokey Glow video on Birkin bags.
As for the process of acquiring these bags, well there is a 9-part series currently on Netflix called "Inventing Anna" it is a very interesting portrait of rich and wannabe rich people. It gives a lot of context to the tortuous process of acquiring this bag and why people do it.

Observe (RE: Sienna Mae Gomez) uploaded to You Tube 02/21/2022

I do not know anything about this situation or the tone of Gomez's TikTok videos. SUGGESTION: Perhaps if there are any videos of sufficient length by Michael Rizzo and/or Jack Wright to analyze, that might bring more context for understanding her videos.
Not a judgement, but Gomez has either memorized or is reading her script off of a prompter which probably affects her expression and her tone resulting in a kind of robotic rapid read. Whatever happened between Gomez and others, uploading scenes from one's "real" life as part of the content on social media is a gamble that should be very carefully thought through before attempted.

Dr. John Campbell (RE: Brendan and myocarditis ) uploaded to You Tube 02/22/2022

I am also shocked, the physician is not allowed to file an Adverse Event report? I wonder if that is just Australia. I hate to use this word, but that is insane to not accept reports from medical professionals and making the patient do the paperwork. Were I the pessimistic type I can imagine a scenario where the drug manufacturers later reject these patient reports saying that they are not going to be considered accurate as they are not verified/co-signed by a medical professional. I never minded (although I am female and not in the most affected group) being part of what is essentially the largest beta test ever done of a vaccine. However the way the COVID long haulers and people who have complications from the vaccine are being treated is both stupid and despicable.   Thank you Brendan and Dr. Campbell for sharing this story.

As for the real life version of Yogi Bear, remember Harambe (who btw has his own wiki page...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harambe) and do not execute this bear. Contact a local zoo, import a sufficient cage with FOOD inside, automatic door closure (maybe sponsored by ring.com?) and then truck this guy to a preserve where he will no doubt irritate all the other bears who were happy eating berries, fish and other forage with tales of human food (aka tacos, nachos, pasta and bacon).

I always leave these videos feeling more informed and thus less panicked.  For example (I live in U.S.) this is the first channel where I got the news and saw the supporting data, that hybrid immunity (2+ doses of vaccine plus actual acquired Omicron infection) is the immunity with the most longevity.
QUESTION: I am a bit confused about the Denmark study which showed lineages of BA.1, BA.2 (which I am aware of) and then showed the lineage:  "BA.3. BA.1". Is the lineage of  "BA.3 BA.1" a trace (aka non-viable) version we need not worry about?  Apologies if this has been explained in a previous video.

It is emotional, all those little and/or major struggles take a toll on your soul and self so happiness tears are very much understandable. The de-evolution of behavior has been going on long before COVID due to a variety of instances. For a while getting on a plane seemed more akin to being on Noah's Ark (albeit with less room). Airlines downsizing their "basic" seating to have less leg/seat room. Much less available food (I do not consider fossilized  pretzels as food for passengers). Seemingly random charges tacked on to bills when seemingly instantaneously the size/quantity of carry-ons changes . All this happened before the pandemic. Add in recent political chaos and the pandemic, the adult tantrums (picture a 2 or 3 year old about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds) proliferated.
