Great interview! With the way the attorneys defending JHACH have treated JULES to me is prima facie evidence (obviously I have zero legal background) that JHACH, its attorneys and its liability insurers STILL do not get it. "It" being legal proof of patient care and rights that was so badly mishandled that it could be taught in a class for hospital administrators and department heads on "What NOT To Do in Your Hospital". Also never base your legal argument (and especially anything submitted to a judge) on reddit posts.

Thank you Rabbit for this interview. Mr. Rinder made his first mistake in not giving Mirriam the affidavit immediately after her participation in the Aftermath series. His next mistake was not making this document a priority when Mirriam recently requested the affidavit. I too thought that Mike Rinder had already given information to the FBI, probably giving him immunity from criminal prosecution.. My guess is that he is currently worried about civil liability (aka money) for him personally and for the Foundation generally. Rabbit is SO correct, seems like many of the current board members of the Foundation are still fighting their own demons and regrettable past behavior. How can they properly assist victims who they may have inadvertently hurt while they were still members of this cult? The current board of the Aftermath Foundation needs to take a sabbatical and deal with their own mental health crisis issues instead of hiring PR people who obviously are not checking Mr. Rinder's communications and legal representation who seem to have zero abilities in writing a proper business letter.

So Mr. Peterson's business was about to fail, his affair was progressing to discussion of potential progeny and he seemingly suddenly decided to go fishing in spite of other commitments (his pregnant wife, his dog and that errand). When questioned by police he frequently lied, seemed unconcerned with his pregnant wife being missing and even came up with a possible crime that might have "ended" his wife and child. Still he could be a sociopath prone to confabulation, zero empathy and not guilty of murder. The relevance of this "new evidence" is up to the court to determine. Glad I will not be part of that jury pool, as I doubt that I could maintain an unbiased state of mind.

I had not actually heard the JHACH attorneys in this (hopefully) final appearance regarding juror issues. Maybe just me, but it seemed like the defense spoke haltingly almost as though an amateur ventriloquist was operating the body. I know that the insurers of JHACH do not wish to pay the financial penalty imposed, but with every motion, every appearance on this issue, every irrelevancy spoken aloud or written down, they further drive away any portion goodwill or trust that current or future patients may still have regarding JHACH or even simply JH. Talk about "not reading the room"!

So much was missed, this would include medical personnel who saw this teen throughout the years, the parents, the school administrators who observed behavior but did not properly notify parents or to the school district head or even to the police.This teenager didn't simply fall through the cracks in a bad system, he was rendered invisible by those closest to him until it was too late. This video was the first time I heard his statement to the court. He sounded medicated in that he read the words, but there was no emotion, feeling or regret behind any of them. If that is the case then absolving the school and the parents of guilt is moot.

I agree with Aaron that a video with Your Lawyer Friend Zac would be valuable. Beyond walking to your car in twos, wearing body-cams and having others people video you while you are walking to car...what can be legally done to protect these protestors? While Aaron provided a Master Class on how to behave while in police custody, Zac's take on how to converse with police, how to behave if you are arrested, what you can and cannot video/audio record would be very helpful. While this cult will never adhere to rules, the protestors must take the higher (aka legal) road. I agree with Aaron, that police may eventually get tired of swatting tactics by this cult, but that could take a while and several elections before any improvement.

REPLAY CREW here: I had to listen several times, but it does sound like the officer is saying that any calls to Police Dispatch from Scientology are "serious" so response time is quicker. Although the officer did try to blame the multiple callers trying to help Chris who were not able to provide a location to Dispatch. As Chris was parked not too far from the site of the protest, I find this difficult to believe. Aaron has said it would be interesting to find out if this is documentation that can be acquired under FOIA. I agree with other comments in that I believe that the LAPD is forgetting who pays the taxes (thus their salaries) in LA county, because we all know who does not. Wonder if FOIA can check any donations made to any LAPD-related group by a certain cult?

Get a new venue, a new judge, new prosecutors and new investigation by an agency not part of the original investigation. I think that the local law enforcement agency, can forget about asking the taxpayers for a bump up in the police department's budget for a while.

Seems like with the acting ability required to be a prince and Meghan's former occupation, both individuals would also be good at comprehending the necessity of managing one's public persona or at least finding an effective publicist/manager. Recently on this channel, Kinsey Schofield gave away excellent advice: (1) keep a low profile for the next year or two (2) then begin to participate in fund raising for charities each feels deeply about and then maybe someday (3) return to the UK as grownups. Sadly that almost sounds like a modern fairy tale regarding a banished Prince and a misunderstood wife. Quick someone send a film treatment to Disney, most of 2023 was an unfortunate year for them also 😉.

Those were good suggestions by Liz Gale. One hopes that the board of the Aftermath Foundation is open to assistance and suggestions. The flowchart shown could even be more complex than Liz has shown. Leah Remini's suit against this cult probably requires Mike Rinder's (and the board's) complete cooperation. While Netflix is hungry for content thus would probably pay huge amounts that a foundation could put to use, is it fair to put a spotlight on victims of this cult without their participation or even agreement in such a film? Making content without contact might easily be taken as re-victimization. As of now, there might be too much anger for self-reflection. The best we might be able to hope for is silence. The one thing that should not be kept silent is the movement to remove this cult's tax exempt status.

Emotionally I was hoping for the guilty verdict for Jennifer Crumbley. However after some thought, I believe the school was also negligent, (unfortunately school has immunity from prosecution). Every adult in this teen's life, even the ones who reported the drawings and phone search to seemingly disinterested administrators, failed this person. He was invisible at home and invisible at school until that horrible day when he was not. Easily available and obtainable mental health coverage and treatment along with a school system who has both security and sense on staff may have stopped Ethan Crumbley. As for guns, after this incident I believe that Michigan passed a safe storage gun law to go into effect...February 2024.

MAYBE A RUNKLE QUESTION: Do you think Defense will bring up the origin of those live rounds? I am assuming that ALL the live rounds found on set chemically tested identically, in other words came from one source. Since there was a way to exclude Seth Kinney's prop house from supplying these bullets (however that doesn't rule out the person who owned the prop house, unless all his 3rd party orders were checked), is there a way to find out who sells bullets matching those live rounds? Even if both (The Armorer and The Actor...possible streaming movie maybe?) are convicted I do wonder if that will be enough to make film productions strictly enforce safety procedures and hire professionals to ensure said procedures are followed?

Regarding long distance relationships, mine have been only related to friends. Sadly, my ratio of keeping to losing this group is not good. However the ones who hang in there are golden.The line between sharing your fashion choices or decorating your home versus personal relationships may be narrow but should be the default for peace of mind. With the amount of online buzz Erewhon gets I would say having an atmosphere of the very strange and weird is basically a routine day at this store. Quite smart to make the "under-dress" wearable for any type of special event. Are you planning on making your own thematic design to suit the 2024 MET Gala? As enjoyable as that spectacle itself is to watch, I find it fun rating the results in categories of: (1) "nailed the theme", (2)"respected the theme" (3)"walked around but maybe was near the theme" and of course (4)"what theme?" 😉

I live in one of the States mentioned. To think that government paperwork and judicial errors were probably equal factors in Harmony's death along with people who should have protected the child in their care, is crushingly depressing. I watched the sentencing and listened to the interviews (including a JH victim, Adam Steed). I was yelling at my screen. While JH is much more dangerous to anyone (cellmates, guards, admin. personnel) as a cult leader the guilt of RF, at least regarding this case, is equal to that of JH. The prosecutor sounded VERY political, full of euphemisms and bland expressions. As my rant I will quote Shakespeare using a portion of the speech by Macbeth “...is a tale / Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, / Signifying nothing.” The prosecutor sounded derivative, bland and highly politically correct. I wonder if he is perhaps concerned about the next election, a future legal appointment or maybe the next church elders meeting. Hopefully the Utah Pardon Board will be more measured in any decisions regarding parole for either of these women.

I do not believe Ruby Franke. I agree with Dr. Grande in that her speech was a performance for an imagined and interested audience. She was acting as she assumed the public would be expecting. As a You Tube viewer, I saw the "pre-Jodi Hildebrandt"version... the act of parenting was not a Ruby Franke strength. She was excellent at calling out her tears, blaming the children and being self-absorbed. Perhaps the off-camera parenting was saner? NatalieLawyerChick (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdoD2oaV7Ks&t=1s) said it best, "Ruby was the dead forest and Jodi Hildebrandt was the lit match". Unfortunately prison may simply be a holding cage for Ruby Franke, not a place that would cause the kind of inner re-writing of her soul and mind that would produce a healthy individual. This does sound a lot like Factitious disorder imposed on another (the new DSM name for Munchausen syndrome by proxy). The mother working with the FBI is analogous to the parent who works with the doctors/hospitals. I think that committing this crime simply gave her a sense of identity and importance. I am willing to bet that to this day she states how much she loves her daughter and would never hurt her. When this woman gets released, I hope it is with monitors around her ankle and on her computers. She needs 1984 level of watching.

I am basically sighted (few issues), but when I first heard of this reality show I thought, wow how inclusive is this show. When I learned what it actually was, I felt well this is a train wreck in serial progression😉. I can accept the possibility that some find their soul mates (or at least, mates for now) on this show, but I still remain skeptical. There really should be another name for this category of these shows such as, "Serialized video content show ordinary people who do not mind being filmed 24/7 or having a director tell them the themes wanted yet be unable to delete or edit content that one does not like."

I love how there is a thrift shop within seconds of the sewing/crafting room. Sadly my garage only contains boring, not ready for crafting, items...and occasionally one or two mice. I love the leaf pillows. I hope that they are as comfy as they are beautiful. The flower lamps came out so well, but scare me. Perhaps it is just heredity as I am the daughter of an electrician and have a guarded relationship with lamps and things. Always enjoy an appearance by "the cat who is not my cat" who lends such gravitas (and fur) to every video appearance.

If there is any justice, Ruby Franke will not leave prison before her youngest child is 21. As for Jodi Hilderbrandt, she is a special form of evil and "counseled" parishioners of a church in Utah for decades causing enormous amount of pain. Franke is a narcissist and was problematic (along with her soon to be ex-spouse) regarding parenting long before Jodi Hilderbrandt entered her life. Jodi Hilderbrandt is much more clever than Ruby Franke and quite the cult leader. Jodi Hilderbrandt is a danger to all of us, Ruby Franke is a danger to her family.

My early impression of this story was that "the call was coming from inside the house", in that the perpetrator(s) had to be family or very close "friends". I kept wavering on the letter-writer's identity, as it seemed to not be coming from an adult. I think that Paul Freshour started this letter series, but that the son continued probably before his father was incarcerated. How hard would it be to duplicate block lettering, especially as Mark Freshour had access to his father's home. It was stated that Paul Freshour probably would do anything to protect his son, Mark. There was an old series, maybe in the "The Twilight Zone" or "X-Files", where a character indicated that small American towns were the scariest places to be and where the most malevolent things could easily happen (sorry, bad paraphrasing).

I appreciate Mirriam's bravery and eloquence. The Aftermath Foundation was formed by those who escaped this cult. While I am a "never-in", I can still recognize problems of a foundation where the majority (maybe all?) of the board members were victims yet also in leadership positions within this cult while others suffered. Several YouTube channels helmed by former cult members have mentioned how problematic this is along with giving suggestions on how this situation can be improved. My hope is that the board members realize that everyone has the same ultimate goal and evolve the foundation accordingly.

This story is a tragedy concerning the waste of one boy's life and the tragic end of the lives of two women. I did find a bright spot in Dr. Grande's humorous (yet also sad) qualification that would exclude an individual from being a politician. The baby/daycare incident, knife thefts and disturbing drawings should have been the alarm for immediate and effective care that seemingly was never found. Not to excuse the prison attack, but many prisons are basically cages that contain those who cannot contain their own impulsive behaviors. It is always sad to see the baby and young child photos of people who grow up to be the monsters of our nightmares.

General Comment: Two disinterested parents who bought their troubled son a gun yet failed to keep it secured are probably two individuals who should do prison time. There is now a "locked-gun storage" law in Michigan which unfortunately did not exist before these murders. Convicting two worst parents in Michigan on being REALLY bad parents is emotionally satisfying, but with the variability of ethics in various DA offices can we be sure that this precedent will not be used to punish all instead of improving the clueless few.

Every adult in this boy's life failed him. And while the school had immunity from prosecution, a school official literally handed this student his backpack without a thorough search. Even without school knowledge of the gun, other weapons could have been contained in that backpack. The school should have denied him readmission until a psych evaluation was completed.

I have no data on how this happened, but I have a hypothesis. Politicians tend to bend and bow to the strong winds of campaign donors. It is possible that this mayor is closely related to someone in this cult or simply delegated a job to the wrong person. Being somewhat unhappy with politicians, I am going with a more direct route to the answer regarding the incentive for this seemingly random public declaration...follow the money.
