MARCH 2023

Posted to Emily D. Baker (RE: Sentencing Alex Murdaugh) uploaded to You Tube 03/03/2023

I felt a guilty verdict would be a proper end to this trial, although with the spotty investigation on the night of the  murder made me think that the jury would be deadlocked or even go with a non-guilty verdict. The video at the kennel was a random event that   proved impactful. (As usual) Emily is correct, I am not satisfied or dissatisfied with this verdict. I am very sad for the victims' friends, family and community that has lost so much. They cannot get Paul and Maggie back, but someday perhaps they will get the ability to be able to trust back.

Posted to Philip DeFranco (RE: Two teens barracaded in their mom's house) You Tube 03/03/2023

I do not understand why there isn't a court appointed therapist, social worker and psychiatrist each having separate consults with both teenagers and their mother in one on one meetings. Why is the father assumed to be the wronged party? Why aren't the children being believed? Why isn't the mother being questioned along with consideration of any affidavits (neighbors, teachers, relatives) from other adults in these two teenagers' lives? Yes people lie, but professionals can often observe behavioral traits to either support or negate claims of abuse. So I guess to summarize:  WHY???

Posted to Mama Doctor Jones (RE: Jessa Duggar's loss) uploaded to You Tube 03/03/2023

I respect Jessa Duggar Seewald for being so open about her pregnancy loss. Many just stay quiet which I understand, as this is a devastating loss. I hate that this subject has been so politicized, but what if Jessa had not been allowed to have this procedure irregardless of the missed miscarriage. She might have lost the ability to have additional (she currently has 4) children or worse yet, died. I think that is why people are so upset. Admittedly Twitter is not any kind of monument to logic, science and empathy.  Also shame on People Magazine for resorting to click bait and editing to acquire views. Clouding this issue, only results in further divisiveness and misunderstandings.

Posted to antphrodite (RE: Justin Bieber's Tour Cancelled) Uploaded to You Tube 03/03/2023

I think this reading highlighted possible reasons for Justin Bieber's cancelled tour. A tour like Justin Bieber's would have required being in top shape physically, emotionally and mentally. With starting his career so so young, this cancellation could have arisen from a type of mid-life crisis. This lack of focus plus his past health issues (Ramsay Hunt Syndrome) may have led to the tour's cancellation.

That was WAY too realistic, when I think of all the IOS updates that I have agreed to, I would totally not be surprised to be marooned on Mars as one of the first citizen "volunteer" settlers. Mars isn't the scary part, being marooned with Elon would be the terrifying part.

AND:

Pinned by LegalEagle: "What Should I React To Next?"

Which actor in a theatrical film is the "best" (I will let LegalEagle decide on the definition of "best" attorney) Hollywood presentation of a lawyer.  Harrison Ford (in Presumed Innocent), Tom Cruise (in The Firm or A Few Good Men), Reese Witherspoon (in any Legally Blonde movie), Robert Redford (in Legal Eagles...of course!), Robert Downey Jr. (in The Judge), Cher (in Suspect) and last but not least  Joe Pesci (in My Cousin Vinny).

Posted to antphrodite (RE: Verdict/Jurors Murdaugh Trial) Uploaded to You Tube 03/06/2023

I think the jury got it as correct as possible given the alternatives and the conditions as presented. Great readings (this one and the one posted August, 2022) regarding this complex mix of John Grisham novels and Shakespearean tragedies.

Posted to Philip DeFranco (RE: News of the Day, TikToker wraps toddler in saran wrap) 03/08/2023

I watched that clip twice (so hard to rewatch). In my opinion the child seemed upset and at best confused. Swaddling (within a blanket) is a thing, to quiet infants (usually aged weeks - maybe 2 months). For older (ambulatory) children an appropriately, for child's weight and size, weighted blanket or vest can be used. I have no doubt this woman loves her child, but her judgement of a "cute family video" indicates that while she can keep her child,   parental classes should be mandatory.

Posted to Dr. Todd Grande (RE: Death of Tom Sizemore) Uploaded to You Tube 03/08/2023

For an illness that has been around seemingly as long as humanity found substances that made them "feel good", we (at least in the U.S.) appear to be less than successful in finding treatments in terms of meds and therapy to manage addictions of any kind.

Posted to Emily D. Baker (RE: Jurors, Defense, Prosecution, Randy Murdaugh weigh in on verdict) Uploaded (and a podcast) to You Tube 03/08/2023

Unless new evidence comes out (perhaps through the exhumation of Gloria Satterfield and re-examination of evidence in Stephen Smith case), I am left with an odd confluence of feelings;  reasonable doubt might not have been satisfied, but also the proper verdict was delivered. It will be hard for me, as a stranger to the people, the area, that lifestyle, to move on. My hopes and wishes go to those who have no choice but to remain in that community and emotionally move on.

BTW:  Bubba is the bestest boy, along with all the 4-footed (and avian) residents of that kennel. They were smarter than SLED, more honest than the defendant and had more clarity than the attorneys for the defense and prosecution.

Posted to LegalEagle (RE: Comprehensive Analysis of Murdaugh Family and Trial) 03/09/2023

Impressive analysis of corruption and tragedy going back 100 years. This story is the combination of a John Grisham novel and a Shakespearean tragedy that would never have been believed if we didn't see the entire 6-week trial along with commentary on media like You Tube.

Posted to Abby Cox (RE: Wearing a corset for 12 hours) Uploaded to You Tube 03/09/2023

I enjoyed this vlog format. Corsets are my friend. Ordinary ones (not bespoke or repros) got me through a painful rib injury to healing without incident or discomfort. I agree that considering widespread SH and other workplace incidents (2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins) on entertainment sets, to be primarily worried about corsets is actually demeaning to us all. Plus what about models...have you seen the footwear they are forced to wear to participate in their livelihood? Anyway a properly fitted corset is not our enemy.

I screamed at the screen when the long sleeve dress with the beautiful collar was "going away", love dress's evolution into pinafore-land and VERY pleased that the collar was saved. The orange knit vest, yes it is still orange, but looks so much better after surgery. I highly recommend this Rachel quote for a tee shirt or better yet a banner for one's closet, "We  don't have time for dresses we can't eat snacks in." That mission statement may help me purge my closet.

Posted to Runkle of The Bailey (RE: Self Defense, interview with Annette Evans) 03/10/2023

Thank you to Runkle for highlighting Annette Evans along with this information. Being a victim can happen to any of us. My self-defense methods are decidedly not related to weapons as basically me carrying any traditional weapon would be giving the aggressor a free level-up. I use direct eye contact (for that lazy predator), no eye contact (for that crazy predator) and for that persistent predator I recommend tossing an open huge bag of jalapeño-flavored chips or something more accessible, such as large bespoke beverage, to gain those precious few seconds of freedom after illustrating Newton's First Law (Inertia).

Posted to the Lawyer You Know (RE: Laundrie Letter) uploaded to You Tube 03/11/2023

I agree with the comments and LYN. This letter should be admitted, but under seal/confidentiality. The behavior of Brian Laundrie's parents after Brian returned alone with Gabby's vehicle is probably not legally admissible, their actions in that time period makes me doubt their judgement. Brian Laundrie is now labeled an abuser, a murderer and a coward in perpetuity, so how bad can that letter be? Not legality, just my "gut", but the Laundries appear to have a Murdaugh-vibe to them.

Posted to The Behavioral Analyst (RE: Chris Rock latest standup) Uploaded to You Tune 03/12/2023

Excellent analysis! I always felt that Will Smith losing control that night one year ago would result in more damage than simply losing an Academy membership and a few roles. Will Smith hit someone smarter, someone with more social media power and as the recipient of a slap someone more sympathetic. Did Chris Rock go too far, no. Chris Rock waited a year, wrote a new act and had it put on a major streaming service BEFORE this year's Oscar telecast. Chris Rock fought back appropriately and with surgical precision. Perhaps someone should send Mr. Smith tee shirt merch from Chris Rock's show only with an additional graphic, "Next time use your words."

Posted to Dr. Todd Grande (RE: Ashley Graham Oscar Red Carpet Interview) You Tube 03/15/2023

Sure Ashley Graham could have thrown that Hamlet quote at Hugh Grant "What a piece of work is man..."which posits the conclusion, "this quintessence of dust...." but where would the fun be in that? From what I have heard producers feed the interviewers obligatory questions. Ashley and Hugh were merely that "...poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." (Macbeth)   See don't I sound irritatingly pretentious?😉

REFERENCE NOTES (not posted)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

from Hamlet Act 2 Scene 2 (spoken by Hamlet):

"What a piece of work is man, how noble in reason, how infinite in faculty in form and moving how express and admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like a god, the beauty of the world, the paragon of animals! And yet to me what is this quintessence of dust?"

from Macbeth Act 5 Scene 5 (spoken by Macbeth):

Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, Creeps in this petty pace from day to day,To the Last Syllable of recorded time,And All our yesterdays have lighted fools The Way to Dusty Death. Out, Out, Brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow a poor player, That struts and frets his hour upon the stage, And then is heard no more. It is a tale Told by an idiot full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Great reading, good warning, probably poor self-reflection regarding Kardashian/Jenner family. I wonder if Kim K. (with SKIMS), might be her family's savior? Kind of sad that she is her family's seemingly most reasonable, self-aware member. Remember last year when Kim K. misjudged public opinion regarding the MM gown at the Met Gala and did not do her due diligence on that crypto offering that used her name as a spokesperson. QUESTION for a future reading: Is the public (and thus corporate affiliates) growing tired of drama as a means to sell products and personalities?

Posted to SpillSesh (RE: Law Roach retires) uploaded to You Tube 03/15/2023

He seems sensitive and talented. Hollywood "consumes" sensitivity, so I agree with the analysis of him not getting a seat next to Zendaya was more the last straw than anything else. I would not be surprised if former clients subsidize his entry into a business relating to fashion and PR. That being said I hope family and friends make sure that mind and body he is currently in a safe space.

Posted to the Lawyer You Know (RE: NM special prosecutor leaves Baldwin case)  03/15/2023

Why did NM special prosecutor charge Alec Baldwin with an ineligible endorsement? I hate to go the conspiracy route, but the level of stupidity here seems incomprehensible. All I can think of is the NM office was set up to fail or is amazingly (almost statistically improbably), incompetent.

Posted to the Lawyer You Know (RE: TikTok psychic claims slander) Uploaded to YT 03/14/2023

Leniency should go to the professor. This professor's greatest "crime" was simply being on an easily accessible university online list of professors by department. The TikTok personality could have easily gotten clicks by inference, by suppositions, by not using actual names, by simply posting daily not by destroying a person's privacy and safety. Being a single mother, a veteran and involved in other lawsuits (shocker) is not, should not be, a mitigating factor in this case.

Posted to Runkle of The Bailey (RE: NM special prosecutor in RUST case steps down) 03/15/2023

In a perfect world, there would be the creation of a Halyna Hutchins Law in New Mexico (nationwide would be nice if our/U.S. lawmakers could agree on anything) to prevent any movie set from compromising safety protocols in regards to budget. Not fond of Baldwin, at all, but there were decisions by others which led the mess of live and dummy ammunition being on the RUST set. One could use the analogy of Baldwin (the actor not as a producer),  Hannah Gutierrez-Reed (armorer) and lucky (aka accepted a plea deal) Dave Halls (A.D.) as being the live bullet, put there by entities who simply did not care about anything beyond money. This movie could have been made without the loss of an emerging artist, a mother and a wife.

I always appreciate the direct no-nonsense, yet friendly distribution of info on this channel. I survived a difficult time, but what helped me survive adversely affected my bones. While I am very OCD on observing any changes,  my personal superpowers of deflection and procrastination can work against me. I carry a "cheat sheet" which is a one page (in small font/pitch) listing of my current medical issues, medications, vaccinations and past diagnostic/surgical procedures whenever I have a procedure or a medical visit.

We will never know the truth, unless lightening hits and adjusts the circuitry of AM's frontal lobe. However there is one giant truth that irritatingly runs through my brain on a loop, it is that if the Moselle Camp had been properly secured and searched by SLED on June 7 2021, AM might have avoided a murder charge and the exhumations of Gloria Satterfield and (probably) Stephen Smith. The death of Mallory Beach has been settled in a civil trial ending in January 2023. Obviously as PM is deceased that eliminates the need for a criminal trial.

Posted to Uncivil Law (RE: Transgender Lawsuit) Uploaded to You Tube 03/16/2023

I doubt that current U.S. national laws (states might vary), are up to the task of legally determining the efficacy of this case. Puberty is the marker when genetic males increase in bone density and in muscle mass usually surpassing genetic females' development in those areas in that same time period. I would reduce this issue to numbers. If the child's identity choice is affirmed by their pediatrician who administers hormone blockers and a psychiatrist/psychologist along with bone and muscle numbers comparable to their chosen identity/age group then why not? There is the question of locker rooms and bathrooms as that child's identity would not match that child's anatomy. This gets much more problematic if the child's identity change occurs after puberty and/or without hormone blockers.

Posted to Gold Shaw Farm (RE: Bee keeping) Uploaded to You Tube  03/18/2023

When starting a new hive I would add a metal strip inside the hive with my data. Somehow (I have no idea on hive construction or for that matter bee-caretaking) hiding this metal strip where it would not be noticed by thieves or harmful to its occupants. Since all thieves are inherently lazy taking the path of least resistance, you could probably just incorporate this strip into the more (theft) accessible hives. Have your ring doorbell (hopefully with "enhanced range" facing towards your hive). Ring doorbells are small, not readily noticeable and many people have them so again the lazy thief probably won't worry. All that being said I agree with Morgan in that we should rethink how we farm and how pollination can be made less bee-centric. Although to mix animal metaphors, I think the bee is comparable to the canary in the coal mine. Do not ignore it. I must admit to being part of the problem. All the lattes that I buy start with almond milk...sorry!

She is explaining, defending her decisions and not trying to tear down her ex. For the sake of their son, I hope the relationship of co-parenting stays civil.

Posted to Observe (RE: Examination of Buster Murdaugh in his father's trial for murder) 03/19/2023

This family is unbelievable, figuratively and probably literally. It is like the books, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt and almost any John Grisham novel were combined and turned into real life. Not a scientific observation in any sense, just my "gut" reaction. I believe that Buster Murdaugh was truthful regarding his ignorance concerning the specifics of the financial improprieties, but as for any other crimes I do not share that certainty.

Posted to the Lawyer You Know (RE: Lawsuit concerning a skiing accident) You Tube 03/20/2023

No one took a video at the time? I would have assumed just for liability insurance the ski slope owners would have strategically placed cameras, especially on the beginner's slope. I am assuming no malice on GP's part, maybe hubris on judging her level of expertise. However that scream indicated problems. If two beginners, whether skiers or any sport become injured due to a collision, I would blame those in charge of maintaining the location, the equipment, onsite instructors, owners of the site and maybe the actual participant (if said participant deliberately caused the accident). Unfortunately out of that group, GP may be the wealthiest, not the guiltiest, hence her inclusion in the lawsuit.

Posted to Lets Talk IBD (RE: Getting Insurance Claims Paid) Uploaded to You Tube 03/23/2023

I speak as yet another veteran of trying to get insurance to pay for what they promised (in print) in their nifty little booklets sent out at insurance renewal time. I fully believe that this part of insurance companies are deliberately failing consumers due to low staffing, rapid turnover and even lower pay.  There are outliers who process claim questions efficiently and accurately. One time I actually got HR to get a claim paid by "yelling politely" at the insurance carrier. However I no longer work at that corporation and not every employer will battle for you to be reimbursed. Currently when there is an issue, I am online reading through the most boring, badly written yet the most important when you are ill, documents ever written. Even tech manuals and IKEA directions are easier to follow. It is almost a rush when you catch insurance companies with their own "small print". So my advice is read the relevant documents as if you were taking a mandatory course at school or trying a case in court.

I know thrifting is best but purchasing the emerald green corduroy was the right choice. My favorite part (not counting seeing a human wrestle with a rolling chair) was the embroidery on the top. Was there any extra fabric left? If so (maybe removing faux wood) make a kind of weird curvy pillow chair top shaped in the style of the top of a Doric column or maybe more GoT-ish, only without the pointy objects? You could use velcro to attach "Doric pillow" to top of chair? No slight intended to the final chair evolution, it has much more personality than its clinical grey former self...and I have no filter.

I have been following this "Ski" trial. It is a bit of a slog, with few relatable characters. Amazingly there was no video from the participants, the ski instructors, the ski medical patrol and even more odd, no paparazzi video. There were rumors of a GoPro video, but that seems to have sunk to the Yeti-level (Cryptid not the thermos corporation) of verification.
FYI TO CHRISTY: Not sure if it is just this ski resort or all of Utah or national, but before you ski you have to sign a waiver prohibiting you from suing the resort. So read the small print before skiing!
