OCTOBER 2021

I always felt first, forgive yourself. In the sense of not blaming yourself for being the subject of abuse or trauma. Second, accept what the person did/occurrence happened. This act of acceptance does not equate it to permission or forgiveness. It allows you to not obsess, get into a tortuous loop, to move away from this "thing". This horrific thing, this person-monster, does not define YOU. As for forgiveness, that depends on so many factors. I agree with Jo, ultimately bestowing forgiveness is up to the person who experienced the trauma.

Admittedly the reluctance to be vaccinated is due to education and information issues, but disasters like the Opioid crisis has had a second major negative result. Many individuals have come to the conclusion that government does not properly police corporate activity and corporations themselves are first and last only concerned with profit not our safety and well-being. Hence we find ourselves in a situation with less than a majority of our population believing in the efficacy and need for national (and global) vaccination against communicable, potential deadly disease.

I would pay (well not 20 million) to be an invisible entity in the room during the next board and shareholder meetings with Bob Chapek. Under his watch the "well was poisoned" with every future contract Disney is involved with being subjected to intense scrutiny by potential talent. Disney cannot survive without masses of creatives (in front or behind the camera/keyboard) in their employ. Thanks to Mr. Chapek and his convoluted and isolating management structure, Disney's inventory of talent just got more difficult to employ and retain.

Were I a Texan, I must admit moving would be in my mind, however the only long-term solution is to VOTE. Leaving areas that have laws and politicians that we dislike and disagree with is one reason why our country is so divided. My advice would be to stay, fight by voting, fight by encouraging/enabling others to vote, fight by not running away. Texas is too great a place to let it stay under the control of unintelligent, illogical, irrational and uneducated politicians.

Argh social media, here is a list to cancel (not in any particular order): politicians who pass laws affecting our health and bodies without even a rudimentary science background, pharmaceutical companies who release drugs without proper warnings to physicians, medical facilities/insurance that force people to choose between bankruptcy and life, oil companies who ship their product in vessels that are managed incompetently producing environmental damage and finally those who feel wearing a mask shows how you vote, not how you care about the health of others.

While it is sometimes hard to watch, I am so glad that this process is being explained as typical and shown. Having got by the critical moment of the boss pig meets new pig, my impulse upon seeing fur pulling and teeth chattering, would have been to separate everyone. I can now see that action would only prolong the squabbling. In a perfect fantasy world, I might say that an election could sort out the herd hierarchy peacefully. However since that process often does not work with humans, I am guessing the same would apply to all species.😉

While I stayed away from trailers and reviews, I have seen the older films and read through two of the books. Sadly I watched Dune at home (the IMAX version must be breathtaking), but completely enjoyed it. While I knew that they would not (and should not ) make it through the entire book in one movie, the ending was a little abrupt. I consider that a minor complaint. Denis Villeneuve truly honored the themes that Frank Herbert set up in Dune.

Intellectually I can see the judge's point, especially from a judge who has been frequently overruled in the past. Certain individuals who were in Wisconsin that day could have been called protestors, rioters, looters, arsonists depending on the situation. However Rittenhouse as a non-resident of Wisconsin who is not a member of a security service or active military is at best a vigilante and at worst a murderer.

I read several of Frank Herbert's books in the Dune series, saw the (1984) movie, do not remember the tv version (lol I barely remember tv as a concept) so I have many memories of Dune. The only things that (very briefly) took me out of the movie were, some of the VERY famous stars one almost unrecognizable. The 1984 film did have a certain sense of almost theater (as in stage) along with highly decorative costumes and sets along with an over-abundance of gravitas. This Paul, even Jessica is very relatable, very human albeit with fantastic martial arts skills. Unfortunately I had to see this movie at home, but I still loved it. A side benefit to a home viewing was that I could add cc to translate all those whispers. Maybe they will rerun this movie over the summer at an IMAX? That would be great PR for future installments.

I agree that the armorer and the AD have criminal liability with the producers, production company, insurer having civil liability. However the discovery of all the additional live rounds (beyond the one bullet which killed the cinematographer) on set is important. It indicates that individuals/companies cannot guarantee safety from an obvious danger. So what happens next...probably laws. No one likes being told what to do, how to do your job, what is permissible, but this incident will make "free choice" less of an option when running a movie set. That fact plus insurance companies (rightfully) hiking up premium payments on movie sets will force the film industry to comply.

As with Gabby Petito, this latest murder (of Ana Abulaban and her friend) indicates that mental health professionals are as important as police and legal filings. A disturbed person will not suddenly spring back to sanity with the filing of a police report and/or restraining order. Interesting with that influencer posing in a sexy manner in front of her dad's body. What bothers me more than the fact that it is a body, is the fact that it is her DAD'S body.
