JUNE 2024

Posted to Growing Up In Scientology (RE: security guard Jason Jordan may wise to leave) 06/01/2024

Judging by this cult's past behavior rectifying this man's life is not in their mission statement. I will go with the illogical fork in the road in that he will be treated even worse, yet still be expected to stay.  QUESTION: As someone who was formerly close to DM, wouldn't this person's departure generate enough concern to result in some illegal measures to quiet him? Admittedly that would an extremely imprudent and foolish move, but when has being prudent and wise ever been part of their methodology?

Posted to  (RE conversation with Sean McDonough) Uploaded to You Tube on 06/01/2024

The prosecution's witness order is odd. Few experts have been called as of Day 19 of this trial. Most prosecutors lead with experts testifying with the ME report, accident reconstruction, verification of phone data) to make their case. As of  Day 19 (Day 20 will be June 3 2024) we are still on prosecution witnesses. Sean McDonough may have come up with the best hypothesis. The Commonwealth never intended to win this case. There was only the need to imply but not prove that Karen Read was to blame in order to absolve a certain friend group. Karen Read may be no saint, but she does not deserve to take the blame for what was someone else's drunken, tragic mistake.

Posted to Uncivil Law (RE: Brian Higgins (cross) testimony) Uploaded to You Tube on 06/01/2024

I understand that during cross witnesses can get flustered, forgetful and less than fluent. It would be a stressful situation for most of us. Most of the prosecution's witnesses seem to have taken clueless amnesia to a new level. I had hopes that Lally (prosecutor) would shake off his obsession with snow and irrelevant details to finally present a coherent strategy. Probably rhetorical QUESTION:  Is it just me, or is the only logical reason that this farce of a trial exists to be found within the theme of Agatha Christie's "Murder on The Orient Express"...they all knew about the murder and they all were complicit? Ugh, I am really trying to make some kind of order out of this chaos.

Growing Up In Scientology (RE: Valerie Cooke suing Scientology) Uploaded to You Tube 06/01/2024

I would guess that Your Lawyer Friend Zac is not available but perhaps send a dm to Kurt of Uncivil Law on You Tube regarding this issue. My search for a definition of arbitration provided this, "Arbitration is a dispute-resolution process in which the parties select a neutral third party to resolve their claims." How does what is happening to Valerie agree with that definition?  In using the phrase arbitration while professing that all claims must go through arbitration, the defendants have departed their religious world and entered the world of law. Without irritating the judge (NEVER EVER irritate a judge) request what the court expects from the process of a proper arbitration. Doubtful that Scientology's version is anything that this judge would recognize as legal arbitration.

This is a journey. Learning from the past of Gold Shaw Farm and adjusting appropriately for the future seems like a healthy and logical way to live. Whether one comes here for weird chickens with a futuristic home or the costs involved with feeding cattle, I have come to appreciate the source of food and the work it takes to produce. And yes those weird chickens and indomitable barn cats are also a drawing point for me. Looking forward to possible leads about why those 2 calves became ill so quickly.

Posted to Attorney Melanie Little (RE: Karen Read trial thru Day#19) Uploaded on 06/03/2024

Good listing by Attorney Melanie of the multitude of mistakes, omissions and just plain F*****y involved in this case. I wish these  "mistakes" and odd (civilian) testimonies would be input to a spreadsheet as this case has, as of Day19, has exhausted my brain's RAM. I am sure the jury would appreciate such a summary, but doubtful that the Judge would allow.

Posted to Uncivil Law (RE: Karen Read trial Day#?) Uploaded to You Tube on 06/04/24

I am surprised that since we are talking about a relatively small area in front of a private home in a residential neighborhood, that instructions that should have been given were to:  find, extract, label and bag ANY ITEMS on #34's lawn and in the berm in front of lawn. We are not taking Amazonian jungle, Grand Canyon rock formations or everything on Fifth Avenue (NYC) here. Why do searchers need to be told specifically what inanimate/inorganic objects that they are looking for? Please talk me down, as I am left with only conspiracy theories that makes this mess of a trial compute. The top "theory" I have heard is that CW is going to draw out this circus for as long as possible to imply reasonable doubt for the involvement of the Canton PD along with their friends and families.

Growing Up In Scientology (RE: Stefani Hutchinson former Aftermath Board member) 06/04/2024

Aaron and Nora said far better than I could, in that this person's irrational attacks on and invasion of privacy of, former cult members only reflects badly on The Aftermath Foundation and its board. The vital goal of all never-ins and former members should be to have this cult's tax exempt status removed thus allowing this cult to wither away.  Personal attacks on former cult members through an aggressive and unstable individual is both eerily reminiscent of this cult's punishment method of  "fair gaming" along with diminishing the good that the Aftermath Foundation has done in the past and still might do sometime in the future. Why can't the Aftermath Foundation see that?

Uncivil Law (RE: Man with driver's license issues - part 2) Uploaded to You Tube 06/06/2024

QUESTION: Is it ethical or even legal for an to "research" their prospective or current client regarding things like warrants and arrests? It seems not the norm to be blindsided by one's client's history IN COURT. I appreciate this attorney's passion in the defense of her client, saying that her client is not capable of uploading a video to social media or even thinking through this entire situation. While I do admit dealing with bureaucracy is daunting, he could have asked for help. A hypothetical I would like to mention, is this individual capable of driving unattended with the requisite decisions required of any driver.

Posted to Growing Up In Scientology (RE: Law Suit and Arbitration) Uploaded on 06/05/2024

I am confused about the judge's ruling on basically what is perpetual arbitration. If what the plaintiff, says is to be taken as hearsay when recounted to her attorney then why is the defendants (aka THE cult) recounting to their attorneys taken as fact? There is no video, no audio or non-Scientology witnesses to verify either side, so it is plausible that someone is lying. Why can't the judge appoint an amicus curiae? However, like any miscreants (aka this cult) when they are closely monitored might "playact" for the amicus curiae. This judge needs a legal (but polite) nudge regarding legal precedents to hang her decision on. Maybe plaintiff's attorney needs to accumulate and analyze past cases and decisions in which a judge enforced arbitration end dates or simply ruled that arbitration itself was not properly handled.

Posted to Runkle of The Bailey (RE: Karen Read Trial Day#21) Uploaded to You Tube on 06/06/2024

Felony trials 101:  the prosecution has to PROVE their case for a guilty verdict. All the defense needs to prove for a not guilty verdict is REASONABLE DOUBT. This trial is twisted with the prosecution eliciting lots of REASONABLE DOUBT which usually results in a not guilty verdict. A not guilty verdict will sentence Karen Read to a lifetime of being someone that possibly un-alived a police officer who was a son, a brother and a father of 2 adopted children.  Now the defense has to PROVE that other party/parties committed this crime. While this trial does not improve my migraines, I did enjoy defense "mistakenly" calling Trooper B...Proctor.

Regarding fashion and our bodies "THE look" seem to change as frequently as the seasons. However I never thought about how a person without sight might be affected by unfortunate posts or clueless potential employers. Someone can tell me my hair is bad, but I can go home look in the mirror to be assured that it was not true, just one person's opinion. It is something all of us should be aware whenever we post or verbalize our opinions.  BTW adult acne is a concern for me also so whenever the product testing is done, please post. If possible try to keep product regime simple with affordable items that are non-prescription.

I enjoy murals whether painted by a creative human or assisted into existence by technology. I am guessing (as I have no skills) that papering the door frame would involve things like removing the door frame, hmm so maybe paint doorframe to blend into mural or attach (by magic, glue, tape, teeny tiny nails or hope) a fantasy wooden frame? A home ideally should be comforting, diverting and rejuvenating so my advice is keep going if the muse (and Nick) agrees.

Posted to Growing Up In Scientology (RE: News This Week - drama   ) Uploaded on 06/08/2024

I am a never-in and probably was one of those who wished that everyone could get along working toward the goal of eliminating this cult's tax exempt status. I was being somewhat naive. Humanity's history is tribal,  Us vs. Them and very distrustful of any changes or anything new. If I could speak to those trolling SPTV channels or simply looking for drama, I would suggest this, it's called "parallel play". This is usually a reference to young children playing in the same room, but each child is playing peacefully by themselves. Plausible for adults against cults?

Posted to Growing Up in Scientology (RE: Judge failing to monitor arbitration) Uploaded 06/09/2024

I admire Valerie and her attorneys for persisting among all this misconduct by the defendant and cowardice by the judge. Thank you to Aaron for this explanation. I now understand that this is the long game that unfortunately will take a considerable amount of time to resolve. Just my opinion, but the court should be ashamed on an ethical level and removed from this case due to behavior antithetical to the proper behavior of a judge of any court.

Posted to Runkle of The Bailey (RE: CrimeCon Recap) Uploaded to You Tube on 06/09//2024

I go to many cons, but they relate to Anime, Renaissance, Comic and Gaming topics. I was about to comment that it is always caveat emptor regarding provenance, cost and quality of the products available for purchase. After some thought, I agree that at this type of con there should be a higher bar for truth in advertising. Selling less than effective devices to customers who do not have effective security training or knowledge, but who have a strong need for security should equate to fraud. As for that particular mention of Halyna Hutchins in the RUST panel, that is beyond contemptible.  BTW I hope the police have not only warned Runkle, but also alerted appropriate individuals in this mentally unstable person's home turf.

Posted to Robert Reacts (RE: North West's performance as Simba at H.Bowl) Uploaded 06/06/2024

I have been in the audience for quite a few school plays. Enthusiasm and smiling can take a school play actor to a rousing performance with a standing ovation. However in most cases, it does not take you to a top tier performance at the Hollywood Bowl. Actually I blame the producers even more than the parents, for putting a young child in this situation. Who knows, maybe in 10 years due to all this negativity through hard work she will burst onto the Broadway scene and star in a show. Unfortunately she could also just be in the 10th year of therapy. Shame on all the adults who allowed this to happen knowing how cruel social media can be.

Posted to Growing Up In Scientology (RE: You Tube Demonetization actions) Uploaded on 06/12/2024

You Tube should have made a point to clarify this rule with the newer, smaller channels. I can see how people all streaming at once at a demonstration communicating with each other is fun to watch and why can't they all be monetized.  However if some channel pops up then uses all one creator's content just to be lazy and greedy that certainly is not ethical or fair. What You Tube is doing is going the easy route. By making the process algorithmic so AI can be the primary "enforcers" rather than humans. I hear AI doesn't need health benefits, vacation time or pleasant working conditions so I doubt YT will change anytime soon.

I have officially lost my ability, at least for this trial, to accept anything said by the prosecution's witnesses (civilian and most police) as accurate and relevant. I would contemplate a law suit against the CW for damages, but since I live in the CW (NOT Canton) such a lawsuit would be detrimental to my income.

Mention the mistake to the mods, the creator and try again later. As for doxxing, not good, not ethical and certainly unsafe for the person doxxed. I have seen identifying details such addresses and phone numbers released in court documents. There is no excuse for making anyone feel unsafe. Hope everything resolves soon.

I obviously live in a bubble. Most of the adults who shaped my brain and behavior while I was maturing are and were academics (I live in Massachusetts, but not the community of Canton). I did not know that I shared my home state with such corrupt, misogynistic, incompetent and essentially adult-teenage hybrids who have the adult responsibility of providing safety, security and equitable treatment under the law for the citizens of Massachusetts. All I can do is vote. The Norfolk County DA, Michael W. Morrissey's current term expires in 2026. He had to "sign off" on this farce.  I hope that in 2026 the voters of Massachusetts remember what happened during this trial. I know that I will.

It would be nice if this video could be seen by unions in the entertainment industry along with their insurers.  Enforcing and strengthening rules already in union charters for handling weapons on any set by ANYONE would be a wonderful way to honor the life lost of Halyna Hutchins. Punishing HG and even AB will not change the next film set that has producers deciding that safety is simply a line item that can be easily removed or ignored.

Posted to The Behavior Panel (RE: Karen Read Interview) Uploaded to You Tube on 06/13/2024

Until the edited clip shown here, I had never heard Karen Read's voice. As of this date, I have watched most of this trial. During trial Karen Read's body language and facial expressions are mostly under control. I would not be surprised if (I have NO supporting data just a hypothesis) she had botox a month before trial to assist in this control. Karen Read is no angel, but she is also not a murderer. The Commonwealth has provided more reasonable doubt through an incompetent investigation and less than credible prosecution witnesses than even a defense attorney would have to provide. In my opinion we have an imperfect, less than likable person on trial that is populated by even less likable and less believable prosecution witnesses, prosecutor and judge. REQUEST: I would LOVE to see The Behavior Panel analyze other "players" in this farce of a trial (oops gave away my bias).

Posted to Legal Bytes (RE: Karen Read Trial -Day#27 - Voir dire) Uploaded to You Tube on 0619/2024

I believe that all 3 defense witnesses should be admitted for testimony. Allowing Dr. Russell's testimony in, has an easy solution. Get all parties involved in this chain to be on record (aka subject to perjury) regarding Dr. Marie Russell's route from Boston Globe notification viewer to the witness box at the Karen Read trial Day#27. For the Boston Globe notification on Dr. Russell's phone, I am sure that Cellebrite could be involved in verifying or disputing this lightbulb moment. What do I think will happen:  (1) the 2 accident reconstructions will be admitted (2) the judge will consider Rule 14 broken regarding Dr. Russell's expert testimony(3) Dr. Russell's testimony allowed if/when prosecution comes up with their expert (4) the trial goes beyond  July 4 (5) the judge blames this lateness on the defense (6) 1 - 3 jurors will request to leave service (7) and the circus will "stay in town" until mid July.

Posted to Emily D. Baker (RE: Instructions for The Jury - Karen Read Trial Day#30) 06/24/2024

Whatever the verdict, Karen Read will carry the "did she or didn't she...?" cloud of suspicion for the rest of her life unless the FBI has come up with  "new" suspect(s) to prosecute. I am bumping up the blame for the ineffective investigative work and oddly presented prosecution to the office of Mr. Michael W. Morrissey, DA of Norfolk County. His term comes up for re-election in 2026. Whatever his party, even if he runs unopposed, I would not vote for the de facto ringmaster in this circus of a trial. IMO he either knew or should have known, what the investigative problems and inconsistencies were concerning this officer's January 29 2022 death by February 2022.

Posted to Growing Up In Scientology (RE: Leah Remini's attorneys resign) Uploaded on 06/24/2024

Certain individuals of The Aftermath Fdn seemingly have been elevated to some sort of superior status in the mind of SH. These individuals used SH when she was valuable to them. Ignoring her now is analogous to knowingly driving a vehicle at full speed, without brakes, down a busy public street. At this point, SH probably cannot, or does not wish to, stop herself.  Rhetorically, as I highly doubt that this comment will be read by certain individuals. If your end game is removing this cult's tax exempt status and freeing its "members",  then harnessing the mental illness of someone to punish critics/former victims of this cult is beyond contemptible and quite reminiscent of this cult's criminal behavior of "fair-gaming".

Posted to Growing Up In Scientology (RE: Leah Remini) Uploaded to You Tube on 06/25/2024

Thank you to Aaron and Your Lawyer Friend Zac for making this mess somewhat more clear. The layers of who knew what when is wild.  When I learned about Leah Remini's lawsuit I felt that she was a hero as she knew how toxic and damaging this cult could be to those who challenge its existence. However now, in trying to hide a monumental error done on CHILD USA's watch, former cult members who are also working against this cult's tax exempt status are now being libeled, stalked and threatened. That LR and MR cannot see this horrible irony is sad, tragic and ignorant.

Posted to Uncivil Law (RE: Karen Read Trial - jury in deliberation) Uploaded to You Tube 06/25/2024

If/when KR gets a not-guilty verdict, along with thanking her attorneys, there are many individuals on the prosecution's witness (REALLY wanted to type witless) list whose "expertise" directly added to that reasonable doubt factor that allows any defendant of a criminal trial to be acquitted. If for some reason the jury is deadlocked or votes for a guilty verdict, this continuing nightmare will sink the reputations and careers of many CW agencies and probably even the town of Canton's tax base with people seeking to leave Canton or even Norfolk County.

---->Question: It has been a loooong trial so maybe this has been asked and answered thus redundant or otherwise irrelevant. As an active (at least in 2022) ATF agent, isn't Brian Higgins kind of in Proctor's situation regarding,  "the AGENCY who shall not be named" ...at least until after this jury issues a verdict?

Posted to Court TV (RE: Vinnie Pollitano on death of Sandra Birchmore) Uploaded 06/2/2024

It is beyond irony that in trying to make Karen Read directly responsible for the death of Officer O'Keefe with this circus of a trial, it has made all involved civilians and State Trooper prosecution witnesses infamous and very recognizable. If the actual cause of the death of Sandra Birchmore can be documented, then her friends and family will get far more closure than Officer O'Keefe's. I cannot imagine how the ME supported not getting a DNA test done on the fetus. Whatever one's opinion is concerning the start of a life, this fetus was essentially an "unquestioned" witness or direct evidence regarding the data which could have been provided to indicate homicide more likely action than self-harm.

I am used to interacting (virtually) with chats in various Law Tubers live streams. I do not agree with all the comments, but I can appreciate the thoughts and consideration behind their posts. As for the social media entity formerly known as Twitter, where responses can be from 'bots, trolls or clueless humans, I do not, nor do I ever intend to, acquire an account. There is no useful debate to be had or knowledge to be gained from those whose opinions are binary without a thoughtful consideration of the opinions of others.

@LegalBytesMedia

What did you think of the defense's experts on Day 30?? Did you see them as helpful to the defense as I did?

My response:

"Mic drop" moments was in your question. I felt every word out of this witness's mouth deserved a "mic drop". Karen Read is guilty of mean girl behavior (those texts with Brian Higgins), she is guilty of using inappropriate tone and terms (in texts to Officer O'Keefe), but the CW has provided no supportable evidence indicating her guilt of 2nd degree murder. The CW has only added to the reasonable doubt pile. Thanks to the Canton PD, the State Troopers and the office of the Norfolk County DA, family and friends of the late Officer O'Keefe will probably never get closure.

Posted to Tragos Law on Instagram (Lawyer You Know on You Tube) on June 27 2024

This is my hope, the jury is taking so long to decide as they want their reasoning to be coherent, detail-oriented and above reproach. There is also the emotional aspect of how a very quick jury return with a not guilty verdict would have affected the O'Keefe family.

Posted to Emily D. Baker (RE: Karen Read Trial-Jury Verdict Watch Day#4) Uploaded 06/28/2024

As a non-juror I have had access to data that was not shared with this jury with the BIG one being the (ongoing?) FBI investigation. Perhaps knowing the bigger picture is why I am surprised at the deadlocked status. I agree with comments indicating that the verdict slip, that the judge was adamant in saying was perfectly clear, was instead confusing.  QUESTION1: Can't the judge at least determine if the deadlocked status is primarily concerning the verdict slip? [perhaps not relevant but I am curious and have questions] QUESTION2: Do we know this judge's stats, as in total cases she presided over vs. how many reversals on appeals?

Posted to The DUI Guy+ (RE: Interview with a former juror from Washington State)  06/28/2024

I am getting VERY strong middle school teacher burnout vibes from Judge Beverly Cannone. She speaks to the jury as if they were children. This judge often speaks to the lawyers as if they need an intellectual assist in grasping simple details of law or even phrasing questions (Lally probably😉, but certainly not Yannetti and Jackson). The witnesses are threatened with the loss of air conditioning if they do not speak louder. When the defense indicated that there might be some confusion with the jury verdict form, Judge Cannone indicated this form was crystal clear and quite obvious as she, (multiple times) waved the physical page in front of her. This was not a high point in either this trial or history of justices in the CW. Probably not relevant, but I would LOVE to know this judge's stats on total trials served on matched with reversals on appeal.

What seems like a very long time ago, I remember being doubtful about all the conspiracies flying around the then upcoming Read trial. Then came prosecution witnesses with family and close friends of the late officer. It was difficult to listen to the raw pain when they spoke about Officer O'Keefe. Later the complete circus came to town and the clowns testified. There were clowns with amnesia. There were arrogant clowns.  There were clowns who had trouble with the English language regarding such words as  "friend" "close friend" and "acquaintance". Finally there were clowns with very important jobs for which they were obviously unsuited for.  Now we find ourselves here, with probably best case scenario being a mistrial.  Perhaps like in the final scene in a play of questionable merit, there will be a Deus ex Machina moment...if the Feds show up.

The Canton PD and the State Troopers of the CW have much to answer for to the family of Officer John O'Keefe. These "professionals'" with their inconsistencies, laziness, cluelessness, apathy and yes even misogyny has probably ensured (unless the FBI knows more than it is currently telling) that this case will never reach a satisfactory solution for any involved parties. The Governor of the Commonwealth should request the Norfolk County DA to resign (the DA's elected term does not end until 2026) and start internal investigations ASAP before past convictions start crowding the docket of appellate court.

Running a streaming service is also difficult ask Netflix or any of these major streamers.  Watcher may actually have been  lucky. Their errors were made early enough to pivot. Right now I cannot think of one piece of evidence that proves guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.  Thus far this investigation looks less professional and less comprehensive than seen in a 2014 movie comedy called, "Let's Be Cops".  With red solo cups, Stop & Shop grocery bags really all they needed was a Dunkin' Donuts Coolatta. Oh maybe that is what was in the red solo cups ? I mean no disrespect to the late Officer O'Keefe and his family, I will leave that to the local police department and the prosecutor's office, they seem to be on point in that regard.

BTW had to add, I want proof of life regarding Chloe.

This whole story has gone lightyears beyond basic political party differences. I believe we have now entered, "The Twilight Zone" of political theater which says a lot considering that one of the candidates in the next U. S. national election spends more time in court rooms than meeting rooms. I still want to laugh at Kristi Noem, compare her to a low-grade comic book villain. However, this individual has control of an entire U. S. state. Her current term as governor of South Dakota, ends January 202SEVEN. The population of South Dakota has my prayers, best wishes and hopes, all 909,824 of them (as of a 2022 census). BTW old comic book trope, don't make her angry...you would not like her when she is angry.

The cult that I will not name did not, will not, "win" regarding any former cult member's divorce. Ironically the act of divorce has probably helped former members regain the sense of individuality which cults in general wish to obliterate. It no longer matters if while as members, people were strongly encouraged to marry or strongly discouraged to marry. To quote A-Aron, "What do I know, I grew up in a cult..." I would add, what can I learn and what can I be, now that I am no longer in a cult.

I live in Massachusetts, while global warming (or whatever one chooses to call it) has made our recent winters more mild, a police officer in a suburb (which is 20 miles outside of Boston MA) for over 30 years to have never had to process a crime scene during or after a snow storm is nothing less than perjury. As for the leaf blower, unless it was cleaned, then sterilized (per online search:  121°C (250°F) and 132°C (270°F), then tested and finally re-sterilized, the answer to using a leaf blower for anything regarding forensics...is a NO. Apologies for badly mangling a Star Wars quote but, the reasonable doubt is strong in this one. The police investigation and the Commonwealth's prosecution of this case has disrespected the memory of the late Officer O'Keefe and abjectly failed his family.

I can only give an opinion, but after 7 days of trial I am not sure why this was even prosecuted. The police work was unprofessional even incompetent, several witnesses seem to have forgotten how long they knew one another and (while a minor detail but goes to show believability) a police officer (who I believe that had been at the department over 20 years) who was first at the scene stated with a straight face and under oath that he had never processed or investigated a crime scene during a snow fall or after a snow fall.  BTW at a party full of police officers, their relatives and friends of said police officers and not a breathalyzer in sight. While there is no actual social host law regarding over-serving another adult, THERE IS THIS,  the case of McGuiggan v. New England Telephone and Telegraph Co., 398 Mass. 152, 162 (1986).

However the intensity of the pain, in my mind I image the sharp edges of a triangle, will become less sharp as times goes on. The object isn't to forget or wipe out the memory, the your job (whether you choose to accept it or not😉) is to make this memory part of your history, your past. For now work on the present with the veggies, flowers, butterflies, puppies and the person who has been by your side this whole time. We all deserve a vacation, make this your time.

I would love to be impartial, waiting until this case goes to the jury before stating my opinion. As of now reasonable doubt is plentiful. The prosecution is giving us nothing. The judge doesn't seem to want to be at this trial, appearing quite bored and impatient. Multiple witnesses argue over the definition of "friend". The close familial relationships of most of the witnesses would put the "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" game to shame. I highly doubt any of this group has the skill set to institute an intricate conspiracy/plot. Was the death of Officer O'Keefe a tragic accident, a murder? Thanks to the local police and decision to prosecute, we may never know.

Aidan Kearney (aka TurtleBoy) does not lose his seat, per judge's instruction it will stay empty (seemingly for most of the prosecution witness list) nor can anyone else sit there. The way the judge made her ruling, now Mr. Kearney also cannot have anyone take his place in the courtroom itself. Did this Judge have a description of the "intimidation" submitted by the prosecution?  Federally witness intimidation "...is a form of obstruction of justice and under 18 U.S. Code § 1512". If as Mr. Kearney said all he did was ask questions and vlog about the trial, that usage seems to fit the definition of,  freedom of the press.  As for the whole Chloe thing, I still want "proof of life" along with a measurement of her jaw and teeth.

Most of these witnesses seemed to "forget" dates, times, places and even relationships (such as friends). I know Officer O"Keefe died in January 2022, but there seemed to be a lot of memory loss floating around that witness box. Q:   After watching (summaries not full day sessions) 9 days of trial, I have so many questions for the prosecution regarding forensics, time line, investigation. Is the less than stellar performance by the prosecution seem unusual (it does to me, a non-lawyer)?

While I am amazed that she is giving interviews, I am not surprised that this particular interviewer would allow this questioning. I will admit to that prejudice. Stalking behavior needs to be taken more seriously by law enforcement. In time, this aberrant behavior can become even more toxic with threats made to person being stalked, the victim's friends, relatives and employers. I would like to see such an individual being sentenced to mandatory intensive counseling in a highly controlled (prison or hospital) environment. She will re-offend, this is her nature until, or if, therapy could give her the self-control and self-awareness, that as of this interview, she does not have. Will I watch "Baby Reindeer"...no, the subject is too triggering.

I have not watched the Netflix series, Baby Reindeer, as that subject is highly triggering to me. I have seen the interview with Piers Morgan and read an interview with Richard Gadd (Donny Dunn in that series). Judging only by the Piers Morgan interview of this person, I heard lying, non-answers to direct questions and a view of reality where this is her world and the rest of us are shadows without rights or needs. I am guessing that she has had no therapy or if she has then it simply did not take. She will re-offend, maybe not regarding Gadd, but regarding someone. Judging simply by the Morgan interview this person will not or cannot acknowledge ever being or doing anything hurtful or dangerous. I hope that I am wrong, a distinct possibility as I have no training in the field of mental health.

These two facts are definitive: (1) Auriol Grey acted in a way to endanger the cyclist and (2) Auriol Grey left the scene of a serious accident.  I know nothing of this case beyond what Dr. Grande has discussed. Did any of trials consider these two facts:  (1)Auriol Grey's impaired peripheral vision and (2) her cognitive impairment? Two very good reasons for her not to walk alone. I wonder if a psych evaluation along with an eye exam was performed? This woman may be mean-spirited, without empathy and a danger to the community due to a lack of judgement, but leaving her in an environment which she obviously cannot handle might be more the fault of her family and/or NHS. As Dr. Grande said, this is a tragedy affecting so many. I cannot imagine the enormous guilt of the driver of the car who had no time to avoid the cyclist.

This is such an odd sad story. The only defense for the superintendent might have is that her phone was hacked, guessing that the investigation ruled that out. Which means "the call was coming from within the house". What bothers me even more than this utter lack of ethics by those in power is that with multiple students, parents and coaches seemingly having the same story still the school board failed to act in a timely manner. The damage has been done and as Nate mentioned the local tax payers will be the final victims. One hopes that when election time comes around the entire school board will be replaced or at the very least forced to "re-apply" for their jobs.

Whatever you think of this man, his acting is powerful, is very believable and he is like a chameleon when it comes to becoming his movie characters. As Spidey points out, Kevin Spacey understands nuance which is quite evident in these clips.  So then how could Kevin Spacey not realize that young (sometimes waaay too young) actors would be drawn to his power in the industry and to his expertise as an actor but really not interested in any kind of relationship? Almost seems like a contradiction unless this ability to use nuance is only accessible in "controlled" situations like studying for a part in a movie or even as a participant in an interview. This very big actor's very big ego has resulted in a now 64 year old man who either doesn't get the concept of power imbalance in relationships or doesn't really care.

I think that the defense with all the "fake fighting" is attempting to show that this group (at least the men) like to drink,  push each other verbally and physically and generally act like younger teens. A tragic accident would be so easy to happen under those circumstances. As for blaming Karen Read, I think that came later when she arrived at the house distraught, giving CPR to Officer O'Keefe and generally falling apart. So instead of an accident, this became 2nd degree homicide. Or maybe she drunk drove, if so the Commonwealth chose the wrong crime to prosecute. Thanks to the (thus far) lackluster presentation by the prosecution, their almost universally forgetful local witnesses along with no expert witnesses to explain the Commonwealth's view of what happened that night, it is hard for me to remain unbiased. Thanks to LYK for the helpful commentary.

QUESTION: There has been lots of online chat about the judge's rulings on this case. Are her rulings proper, relevant, at least according to law? My opinion is that she reminds me of someone who has decided to "work-to-rule".  As of this post, we are approaching day 12 of the Read trial. The reasonable doubt vastly exceeds any (currently submitted) evidence. Most of the testimony indicates a level of memory loss which makes me suspect the water in that community. My hypothesis is that the death of Officer O'Keefe was initially an accident. However then came panic by the individual(s) involved, monumental incompetence by the police, a lackluster prosecutor, a judge who really doesn't want to be there and more connections between the all the witnesses than even Kevin Bacon could imagine.

(2b)What good are these tugs in emergencies if they are too far away to reach a ship in time? Perhaps the final report detailing the analysis of the electrical system along with the incorrectly closed an inline exhaust damper's (@20:40-20:57) effect on the catastrophic electrical failure to come will provide enlightenment. As EDB has said multiple times to chat questions, "We just don't know yet." To have that be a professional's observation after 12 days of trial seems astounding to me (not an attorney just a subscriber). Theoretically, the prosecution could come up with a "da da DA' moment late in the trial, but that is much too theatrical to do to what is most likely a currently unhappy and impatient jury. Anyways, I believe that a Sherlock Holmes moment is out of Lally's skill set.

Posted to Uncivil Law (RE: Karen Read Trial) Uploaded to You Tube on 05/16/2024

The thumbnail indicates that this judge is "biased and infirm". What if the judge and this prosecutor are simply "working-to-rule"?  I would even hypothesize that they expect to be reversed on appeal. Perhaps the trial itself may be the sole reason we are watching this very oddly constructed case?  A trial can provide a reason for and closure to, the untimely death of Officer O'Keefe. Admittedly my hypotheses are random, unsupported and perhaps even theatrical. However, then how do we find ourselves so deep within a murder trial that seems to be more concerned with defining various relationships along with proximities of multiple chess pieces on the relatively small area labeled "Canton"?

Posted to the Lawyer You Know (RE: Karen Read Trial Day#13) Uploaded to You Tube on 05/16/2024

This is a murder trial. Before such a trial can move forward, the prosecution requires information such as motive, witness, opportunity and forensics to plan and to prove their case. Prosecutors like to (ego) and/or need to (elected or appointed) rack up wins. This trial feels so very different. As of Day#13 even the window of "opportunity" that this defendant might have had appears to be less and less plausible. I have been laughing at these prosecution witnesses with selective amnesia. I should not be laughing on a daily basis while watching a trial regarding a murder. QUESTION: What is going on? Is this trial unusual?

She has gotten so good, she even teaches that form of dancing. I do think the play-fighting of these men, especially when drunk is relevant. Alcohol is well-known to diminish inhibitions, self-control and physical coordination. Hypothetically an older large drunk man might stumble as a result of a hit or in trying to hit someone else. Such a hypothetical man might fall backwards, hitting the back of his head on a piece of furniture or something heavy causing concussion, blood loss, unconsciousness and perhaps a tragedy. Panic ensues and years later we find ourselves in Day#14 of a trial without even a cause or a time of death. Did Karen Read drive while impaired and cause fatal injuries? Thanks to an amateurish, sloppy investigation there may never be a definitive answer acceptable to either side.

Do I agree with his firing (with only what I know from this video) I do NOT.  I am guessing that Warren Smith's former employer never liked this individual having such a popular You Tube channel. Perhaps when this video of his interaction with a student regarding the subject of bias got posted then re-posted by Mr Musk then going viral, his former employer had an "ah Ha" moment. Even though the student was not identified, with only the student's voice being used, this still could have activated a clause in school district policy or Smith's contract regarding privacy of students.  I feel that there is an anomaly  in this story. Why would anyone put their private financials, book writing projects and general life on a not secure (I believe he indicated his data was not encrypted or gated by a pw) laptop that was basically a "loaner".  So there is no thumb drive, no flash drive, no cloud, no backup of any kind?  I like to look for patterns. His seeming lack of awareness of computers bothers me, it does not fit the image of a thoughtful scholar who also has a You Tube channel. Perhaps answers can be found in his content on You Tube or tracking his comments through the social media jungle,  I would advise caution, careful thought and thorough research before gathering up the virtual pitchforks and torches to storm the internet.

Again, not saying he is lying but....  His wife, Jen McCabe was more polished, but I still found a few contradictions in her testimony. My only education in legal matters has been from attorneys like Andrea Burkhart on You Tube. That being said this trial seems off to me. The role of defendant in this case seems to be played by the portion of Canton, Massachusetts with ties to the police. Which adds to the weird of this case as this judge has a personal connection to several prosecution witnesses so why not use that excuse to remove herself? Again, I keep coming back to the word "weird". It is human nature to try to make order of chaos, so far I cannot make sense of this trial without using conspiracy theories. Where is the ME report, accident reconstruction, ALL phone records,  documentation regarding the protocol/source for those swabs sent to UC-Davis and details on treatment of the evidence gathered near the late Officer O'Keefe. What about adding a default safety system linked with the bridge opening system aligned with the pressing of button1 to activate a simple mechanism emitting a continuous blaring horn and blinking lights (in case of pedestrian deafness). These warnings would be in place until the last of the 5 buttons was pressed. One month in rehab, a few therapy sessions do not rehabilitate all that quickly.

Jen McCabe is relaxed and fluent on direct (by prosecution) then argumentative and an amnesiac on cross (by defense). She is her own worst enemy, not the defendant, not the defense attorneys. If what Jen McCabe says about the harassment on social media and on her street is accurate, that is very wrong. However that should have no relevance in this trial. One could query, in a town full of police with seemingly lots of free time, why she cannot get adequate security in her own town and privatize her and her family's social media?

This one expert's field was in animal DNA from U.C. Davis. She did not find any canine DNA on the 2-swab sample sent to her. Ironically (I am NOT joking) she found pig DNA. This animal DNA expert was given no information as to the protocol used in acquiring the DNA or a list of witnesses to the collection and storage of sample before it was sent to U.C. Davis. As of this comment all we have is the insistence of the former owners of Chloe that she was "re-homed to a farm Vermont".

Karen got jealous in Aruba, over-reacted, later apologized to the person and offered to pay some of this person's Aruba costs. Lally (and thus the judge) may have assisted the defense with showing how Karen Read reacts to a stressful situation. Dating someone with a very vocal, very closed, very "us vs. them" friend/relative group is stressful especially when participating in social situations. GREAT catch by Jackson, showing that Proctor knew enough to question the sisters from the Aruba trip separately, but yet not the Albert/McCabe friend and relative group. So so so many mistakes by the police in this case has produced reasonable doubt in such abundance that we probably will never know what events led to the death of Officer O'Keefe. Sad for his memory. Sad for his family.

Except, I have one problem, when a notary signs (or stamps) a document, their name, license# and expiration date of said license should also be on form. While the notary in question has denied any such participation, my QUESTION is how did said clueless incompetent criminal get that notary's details? Notary might wish to check their client list..soon.  Also: I very much appreciated the sass and the documentation enclosed in the reply to a certain police department whose attorneys basically need to repeat their courses in Copyright and (especially) Trademark law.

Lying under oath successfully, requires 3D chess skills. The witness must predict the moves and directions of the attorney questioning you in order to answer appropriately; all the while being consistent with all details. Unfortunately most of these witnesses would have trouble winning at checkers or even tic tac toe.  I would prefer to remain neutral regarding guilty or not guilty. I am trying to maintain that ideal position, but it is exhausting.

It has been said this judge has bias, possibly. However what I have noticed is her tone with both the defense and the prosecution. It really is not much of a stretch to imagine a drunken fight between some of the men, one slips, hits the back of his head on something very hard and here we are. There may be no innocents in this case beyond the children (well maybe Chloe if she still lives). This is just an amazing amount of bad choices by all the involved adults. However I especially blame those who should have known and been better. Those who were involved in evidence gathering and investigation. Their shoddy job doomed this case to most likely never being definitively solved.QUESTION: Too soon to consider how "sovereign immunity" affects who can file civil suits against Canton and CW?

Posted to Melanie Little (RE: Karen Read Trial Day# 17) Uploaded to You Tube 05/24/2024

I watch this case thinking that it can not get any weirder, yet it does. On Day#17 in a regionally (but not century) appropriate manner the CW seemed set upon awarding its own scarlet letter for problematic texting to Karen Read. (The Scarlet Letter is a novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne regarding power imbalance, hypocrisy and spitefulness of 17th century Puritans in Massachusetts Bay Colony.). While the texts to Brian Higgins do not show KR in a good light, it also does not show KR committed 2nd degree homicide. However does show a possible motive for a drunken fistfight resulting in a tragic accident among certain males in a certain house in Canton, Massachusetts. QUESTION: Do we know anything about the status of the FBI investigation regarding Michael Proctor (another ironic historical ref: a John Proctor was executed in 1692 during the Salem Witch Trials.) The amount of weirdness in this case is only exceeded by the amount of reasonable doubt.

Posted to antphrodite (RE: Is Karen Read Guilty) Uploaded to You Tube on 05/15/22024

If ant could do it safely (the venom is strong in this one), I would love to see a reading on the peripheral players in this tragic circus such as,  police in charge of the investigation (Michael Proctor), the judge (Beverly Cannone) and the local friend group (multiple McCabes and Alberts) of Officer O'Keefe who have been witnesses called by the prosecution.  The trial is a mess due to incompetent investigation, really odd prosecution strategy, an impatient judge who seems to dislike everyone. This judge also has connections to the prosecution's witnesses. Ant is spot on regarding the toxicity of everyone involved and that most likely a series of events lead to an accidental death. I agree that Karen Read is more on trial because no one liked her rather than anyone holding her solely responsible for the death of Officer O'Keefe.

We can be a touch melancholy to see Eugene set sail for his future (now I am getting misty, plus somehow I am now thinking of Frodo) and still feel happy that these guys continue to try and make us think and laugh...😉not necessarily in that order.

As a taxpayer (not in KY) I appreciate that Mr Scheffler was cognizant of the fact that suing the police would probably result in a tax hike for the residents of that area.  QUESTION: Could Mr. Scheffler have added these provisos before signing the no law suit order: (1) a proper protocol in place in case of need of officers elsewhere than this golf course on tournament days. (2) 3 month paid leave for the officer who physically assaulted then over-charged Mr. Scheffler with the mandatory condition of weekly counseling and re-training in crowd and traffic control. That officer "lost it" that day, no one wants a burnt out, volatile officer with a weapon out there trying to make critical decisions.

I love Caitlin's videos regarding unusual deaths with origins from hubris, misinformation or misfortune, sometimes all three. I was aware that the Confederacy had their own sub, but was ignorant of its sub's  history. Stories should be told. Accurate historical details and study of artifacts should be not limited to that of the victors. We can learn without submitting to the cause from which the object arose. IRONY ALERT:  An inventor full of bravado who did not allow for human error or an escape route who insisted his sub was safe and talked others into joining him, H. L. Hunley captaining the submarine "The Hunley" on October 15  1863... or  Stockton Rush captaining the submersible "Titan" on June 18 2023.  Somehow not listening to history makes the modern version of this story even more tragic.

More of that Murdaugh "magic" during that family's decades of influence spreading throughout the county.  NRA does deserve rights under the U. S. Constitution. Perhaps someone might offer that organization some non-legal advice to the NRA. You may win this battle but lose the war (of public opinion) as the Parkland tragedy will be revisited in any future court case in that county. QUESTION: Do you think that incident would be kept out of court records if NRA decides to sue?  Even if the jury is not allowed to hear of the tragedy in court, they have memories of reading about the actual event. Also I highly doubt social and news media will be as circumspect as the court on this subject.

Sometimes I wish that along with the periodic mass mailing of the U.S. census, the government should add tee shirts with the graphics: "It's NOT Conspiracy, It's Occam's Razor".  As was said on this series, a huge container ship with apparently no backup for helm control was matched with a municipality's outdated infrastructure. We watch movies with supervillains. We try to solve true crime mysteries on the internet. The answer here is not as cinematic or exciting. This tragedy's supervillain was actually a combination of incompetence, misdirected tax dollars and random chance. BTW Good catch on the HDMI cable!

No apologies from ant are needed. The overview of anything can be complex and the subject of this reading was like a 4 year course compressed into minutes. I would advise taking one element of this reading and focus on it. Moving on when the path begins to make sense. Slightly boring but applicable personal story alert:  I remember years ago my mother and I visited a local (but with global elements) crafts fair. There were multiple sounds and images of unfamiliar languages, music, bright colors, many people in costume and lots of crafts that we had never seen before. I was fascinated but could not seem to focus on individual items. Unfortunately my mom got a migraine and had to sit down. Essentially both of us were overwhelmed with an immersion into unfamiliar territory. Had we directly gone into one shop, maybe our senses could have handled and translated what we were seeing. Hence my suggestion pick anything from this reading and focus on that.

Watching him explain his diagnosis with those same skills, gives me hope that perhaps there is a way for him to live with this condition rather than to have it consume him. I have face blindness so in a quite a small way I have experienced that out of body feelings of: who the heck is this person who stopped me at the grocery store. I do not know if this is a salesperson or my next door neighbor. So I have also played that smile game, while talking in generalities or faking an appointment to make my get-away. Thank you to Runkle for clarifying weapons and ammunition data along providing legal commentary. The Prosecution's case almost writes itself: (1) AB's interview with the police, (2) the network interview of AB with George Stephanopoulos (3) an extremely problematic, proposed by AB, doc on Halyna Hutchins and (4) the phone video made for PERSONAL USE that illustrates AB's unsafe shooting practices. From this video I learned about the HH doc and the phone video. Whatever we think of Alec Baldwin the man, the actor or the man who would be producer Alec Baldwin, as was Hannah Gutierrez, will be the most damaging witness in his own trial. Of course the legal representation for AB is a considerable upgrade from HG's, so who knows which evidence will be admitted and thus how jury will deliberate on said submitted evidence.

She also lives in an area with decently reliable mass transit. All she had to do to cut monthly rental costs and still find an appropriate apartment, is to move about a 15-20 bus ride away from her former apartment into a more residential area. Just enlarge that circle of interesting places on your virtual (or paper, I do not judge) real estate map.  As for not making friends of strangers, I can relate. My behavior tends to be very quiet with the occasional blurting out a comment such as "wow that's an ugly paint color" then laughing, alone, at my own faux pas. While Jennifer Crumbley and James Crumbley were most certainly guilty, they were not alone. A pity that there was no proper gun locking law in Michigan before this incident. That law, along with charges of child endangerment or abuse might have better way to incarcerate these 2, landlords maybe? I do not feel that they fit the definition of "parent" legally morally or ethically.  Giving the school immunity when the shooter spent about one third of his life there, was unfortunate. The school had the duty to keep ALL of the children onsite safe. A promise that obviously was not kept. I won't even go into the costs and availability of mental health providers in general or specifically onsite at schools, as it depresses me.

I am an American so while I know about the royals, I do not have an emotional attachment to their careers or personas. Watching the actual interview, I feel that there were multiple individuals at the palace (not just that assistant to the man formerly know as "Prince") who should be sacked, such as  PR team, managers, lawyers, admin assistants or at the very least be forced to re-apply to their jobs by CV not heredity or a royal friendship.

My impression is that many viewers (myself included) are waiting for a rational, clear and concise answer to why at that moment Will Smith kicked himself off a pedestal that admittedly we all put him on.  I doubt that will ever happen. Is Will Smith being honest in this interview, in places yes, but when he gets into word salad territory (philosophy) my impression is that he is trying to persuade himself that his search for self-knowledge and spirituality will lead to redemption and a return to the fame that he admitted he found quite safe.

As for those who should share Parker's guilt and her eventual fate; every administrator in that school who ignored teacher reports, that community's school board, CPS (who ignored a child living with a drug addict and a career criminal) and who knows how many other supposedly competent adults in positions of power failed. We keep punishing the perpetrator. We need to address the root of the problem, not wait until tragedy to act.

Until I heard these phone calls, I was of the opinion that while guilty, HG's prison time should be reduced. My opinion has changed. HG should share the guilt with others, such as the Production Company of Rust as they knew workplace safety was threatened yet they did nothing. Seth Kinney and Sarah Zachary while also sharing responsibility for HG being on set, were either lucky enough (or they "read the room" unlike HG and AB)  to avoid jail time.

Should have added the AD (Dave Halls) who also got & accepted a plea deal from prosecution.

It might have shortened her sentence, as there are probably (I have no diagnostic training or degrees) multiple mental health issues that would be diagnosed and then presented to the judge connected with mandatory probation linked to the attendance of daily therapy sessions.

As was said, there is an independent expert in charge of weapons, stunts, animals or simply to be sure that the production adheres to the rules of a complicated profession. It is curious that there are no independent representative (maybe one for every 3 child actors on set) who is on set only for the children. Teachers on set are necessary, but are usually not equipped to negotiate with a director or judge mental health issues. This child advocate would be in addition to, not a substitution for, the parents on set. As for the documentary itself, I have not viewed it. I believe that at least for me, it would be triggering.

However during the sentencing phase in focusing on the defendant, it is possible to analyze feelings as actual or acting, so which is right?  As for this case everyone loses;  a daughter, a grand-daughter, freedom and of course all those who would have known and been affected by the woman that Destiny was not allowed to become.

Loved Watcher, but in spite of the words spoken on their "goodbye to YT video" of the affordability $6/month, in the entertainment world there is considerable content behind a paywall. As funny and creative as Watcher is, I am at my limit on paid streaming services. I even had to cancel Crunchyroll (if you know, you know my pain) as several other services raised their rates so I had to choose. The college thing is sad. This is where I went not only to matriculate but be exposed to new ideas, different people and variety of events. No one should go to school (and be in debt for YEARS) just to spend 4 years in a very bland echo chamber.

Replay crew here. I think that I appreciate Peter's careful and cautious style way more in the replays than in the live streams. There are many non-human witnesses out there to daily life, such as Ring cameras, metadata on phones, cameras in public areas, not to mention that we all carry a camera and data recorder via our phones. Privacy is an illusion. I mumble to myself about needing coffee while doing my taxes, seconds later "by magic"😉 my phone opens my Starbucks app. I do not discount Kohberger possibly driving nights to calm himself or maybe to observe others to feel more connected, but I would like to see technical or scientific-based proof. For the sake of the victims' families and the rights of the defendant, this trial needs to begin and proceed quickly.

Posted to Modern Gurltz (RE: Coachella then and now-2024) Uploaded to You Tube on 04/19/2024

Actually I would go to Coachella if I lived on the West Coast (U.S.). I think that the price of one weekend (assuming all day Sat & Sun) for one person in 2024 was about $500.00. With multiple musical acts, plus additional events occurring every day of the festival, prorated that cost is not too bad. Of course I am not allowing for the huge up-charge (for what Ticketmaster,...AI? or your company's stock value?) that Ticketmaster foists upon its customers. Another negative for me is that the cost of travel, hotel, food would be prohibitive. Having never been to Coachella, I cannot complain or applaud the celebrities, influencers and faux celebrities and wannabe influencers that appear except to say, it is all part of the show, the experience of the event so why not?

Even before the pandemic (2020), I have worked from home, I have mastered the art of sweatpants & sandals worn with a carefully pressed and pristine tailored shirt with appropriate cardigan or blazer along with Zoom-ready makeup.  I laughed when Mina admitted that she could not read the entire, "American Psycho" book. Forget the book, I cannot watch the 2000 movie! I also hear that the book has more violence than even the movie has. This is a random comment, but I need someone to do a fashion cut of the movie only showing the character of Patrick Bateman when he is not  un-aliving people or even thinking about that activity. Damn if Christian Bale did not look good in those suits!🤣

Posted to Watcher (RE: Followup to Goodbye video of 04/19/2024) Uploaded to You Tube 04/22/2024

Thank you to Watcher for the reasonably quick turnaround time of this video (uploaded 3 days after "Goodbye" video). I can't help but wonder how many hours, days, weeks or even months did it take to create, troubleshoot and complete then upload the previous video? While I have not given financial contribution to Watcher via merch or Patreon due to (my) budget issues, I do what I can to assist the dreaded YT algorithm by doing; "like", "subscribe" and "comment" (ok yes, I did NOT "ring" the bell icon). With many of the currently existing streaming services raising their rates, even the addition of 6 USD expense per month is not manageable for me.  As a way of saying thanks for the laughter and entertainment that Watcher has given me, along with adventures to places that I will probably never visit, I will adopt a wait and see approach. My statement is not funny, entertaining or adventurous, but is a promise to Watcher.

Posted to Observe (RE: Watcher's "Goodbye" Video) Uploaded 0422/2024

-->QUESTION: Are you going to pay for the new Watcher streaming platform?

I like the guys, but I find the April 19th video beyond elitist and self-important to be almost insulting (regarding the ONLY 6 USD/month) to the current Watcher audience. I will NOT pay for the new Watcher platform. While I did appreciate the April 22nd (Follow up ? or Apology ? or ?Folology?) video, I commented on the April 22nd video saying I will adopt and wait and see approach regarding staying subscribed on the current YT channel.

---> COMMENT:   Watcher's followup April 22nd video is much shorter, much less word salad and more to the point of addressing the negative viewer reaction. As I said in my comment on Watcher's April 22nd video I will wait and see before I unsubscribe from their You Tube channel. However this decision, in the words of these 3 individuals, took a long time. I tend to think they said what they meant in the first video and the second video may sadly be simply damage control.

Posted to penguinz0 (RE: Watcher's Apology Video) Uploaded to You Tube on 04/22/2024

I agree that acceptance of the apology along with a wait and see approach is probably the way to go. My concern is that the "Goodbye" video came from weeks and months of decision making, going past many eyes. While admirably quick (3 days after "Goodbye"), their apology, most likely an honest one, was also damage control.  I am still subscribed (only to YT channel, 'cause there are a f*****g amount of huge streamers with ever rising prices out there) to Watcher. Who are these 3 who have created Watcher? The answer, maybe 3 fun, talented and ambitious people with employees numbering in the double digits or perhaps self-entitled, detached and clueless wannabe media moguls? I guess that we wait and see.

Posted to HauteLeMode (RE: Reacting to Disney Adult Fashion "Disney Bounding" 04/23/204

I anime-bound at cons. I have very weak crafting and sewing skills and even less money to buy an outfit...hence "bounding".  LOVED Luke's commentary. Some people "bound" a little high, but nice to see happy people having a happy time. I would love to see more Disney Bounding or for that matter any IP-type bounding.

Posted to Growing Up In Scientology (RE: Brian Kent and the Child USA Fdn) Uploaded 04/24/2024

I would not put it beyond the scope of a certain individual's motives and personality to withhold action even in such an egregious case as Brian Kent in order to keep the reputation of a certain organization pristine. This does seem to point to a pattern of behavior by such an individual(s) to avoid scandals and to maintain the gloss of purity. I would have more trust in an organization or group that not only would not tolerate predators in the outside world, but also in the inside world of said organization.

Posted to Emily D. Baker (RE: Murder of 2 missing moms and custody cases) Uploaded 04/24/2024

My take away from these tragic cases, is that they are more about control and power than of the welfare of the children. The short term solution is to take custody hearings as seriously and carefully as DA cases. The old cliché is valid, hope for the best and prepare for the worst. For a long term solution, beyond injecting all concerned with a serum that forces sanity, logic and empathy into all adults involved, I have absolutely no idea other than enforced lifetime counseling and therapy.

posted to The Behavior Panel (RE: Harassment of Celebrities) Uploaded to You Tube 04/24/202

Oddly I feel compelled to preface my comment with, "I am not a fan of this celebrity but..." which probably says a considerable amount about MY behavior.  No one, not even Alec Baldwin, should feel unsafe and uncomfortable due to inappropriate behavior of another customer or store employee. This should have been stopped by the store manager notifying this individual to immediately leave the store or the police would be called. If I feel uncomfortable in a store, I am not coming back. If this clip does go viral, human nature being what it is, this shop may get lots of provocateur-clones who probably will not be making purchases, only trouble.

Posted to Uncivil Law (RE:Ineffective Assistance of Counsel--Thornell v. Jones) Uploaded 04/24/2024

I will not claim any understanding of the legal arguments presented along with the judges' questions and comments, but it was quite compelling. Andrea Burkhart and Uncivil Law clarified what I heard. Even with the serious subject matter, hearing some humorous comments was welcome. It was so strange though, I found that after hour one, I had forgotten the violence that had led everyone to the Supreme Court of the United States and was total enthralled with this process.

Posted to The Behavior Panel (RE: Quick Confession Aquired) Uploaded to You Tube on 04/25/2024

I know zero facts concerning this case. Being an amateur body language reader (self-taught in middle school as a survival skill ), I wonder how this outwardly passive individual committed the murder and burial of his wife. I am guessing that he is intimated by men generally or by authority figures specifically. As for the police, whether deliberate or their usual technique, they were more histrionic and voluble than anything I have seen or heard since my child's kindergarten play (un-ironically the theme was friendship)...do not hurt me😉.  IMO all of The Behavior Panel from 54:10 - 1:03  were being slightly less than truthful.  Mark Bowden wins the comedy award for this episode for his muppet comment in the last few minutes. Chase Hughes wins the "take time to enjoy the beauty of nature" award for pointing out a background that was hopefully not green screened (unless that was a CGI'd german shepherd).

Mistakes made in doing one's daily job is common. Admittedly less common is facing the ire of a flock of geese, ducks and raptors (I mean chickens) expecting their water not to mention those huge mammals with even huger horns. Even more rare, is sharing that mistake with others to provide a learning experience. All that being said as the owner of infrastructure (heating, plumbing and air conditioning) that is aging quicker than I am, I really wish that Alfred was "MY buddy Alfred living down the road...."

Posted to Observe (RE: 2nd Watcher video, "The Apology") Uploaded to You Tube on 04/25/2024

I also got the impression that Shane and Ryan were emotionally vested in what they said. Steven seemed to be regurgitating someone else's words because it was required of him for damage control. I am remaining subscribed to Watcher (on You Tube only) with a wait and see approach. While I appreciate their quick reaction time (3 days after the "Goodbye" video), I do wonder about the extent of time preparing the "Goodbye" video. I am guessing it was considerably longer than 3 days. Full disclosure, I have no intention of paying for their streaming service primarily due to my finances not questioning Watcher's talent. I am only questioning Watcher's motives.

Molly has always been pretty, but now she is strikingly attractive. What is also striking is that Molly has shown that inclusion is not just ethical, inclusion is a gift that permits people to share their skills, interests and stories benefiting us all.  Thank you Molly Burke, I know life isn't all smiles and fun, but I always am glad that I watched a video on this channel.

Posted to Rachel Maksy (RE: comparing 3 methods of curling...hair) Uploaded to You Tube 4/26/2024

While foam rollers and pin curls win the day for retro devices, I think that we have to give a very honorable mention to "That Viral TikTok Thing" for the most compressed coiffure cosplay in one 4 minute segment. My hair styling when I occasionally step into the real world is essentially left to hair elastics, huge claw clips, and if I feel "fancy", headbands...yes, I am coiffure-impaired, but I am willing to learn.

I remember years ago, guinea pigs were advertised as "starter pets" (at least in the U.S.). I am not a violent person, but I have thoughts about the individual or group that created that concept. Those thoughts are not suitable for any comment section on You Tube. That being said I adore my 2 girls, Yoko and KiKu even when they "mistake" their food dish for a toilet, wheek at me when I open the fridge (to get MY food) and kick out what should be in a toilet onto the floor (MY floor not theirs).😉

Posted to SpillSesh (RE: Ellen Degeneres' return) Uploaded to You Tube on 04/27/2-24

There is an old saying which I will paraphrase, people successful in their current position are promoted repeatedly until a level of incompetence is reached. There these people remain until fired or leave voluntarily. Had Ellen stayed a famous comedian, with some specials, guest appearances, maybe even a podcast she might have been able to hid her lack of empathy and deficiency in being a boss. Do I believe what Ellen says, not sure, but I am certain that Ellen Degeneres believes it.

Posted to Liz Gale (RE: The Aftermath Foundation) Uploaded to You Tube on 04/26/2024

The behavior of this new member of The Aftermath Foundation is lazy (not watching referenced videos), antithetical to the mission statement of an organization set up to help victims of a cult and their families along with being scarily similar to the "fair gaming" activity mentioned in Leah Remini's lawsuit. Yet another complication regarding Mike Rinder is that (I believe) he is linked as a source/possible plaintiff's witness in the Leah Remini's lawsuit. One of Liz Gale's suggestions, was not having former scientologists who had committed bad acts while in this cult potentially dealing with those that they had hurt.  Liz Gale, from what I have learned viewing her channel and other SPTV channels, is funny, intelligent, eloquent woman who is most obviously a very caring parent.  These are facts that the board knew when Liz's son was awarded the scholarship, that they now seemed to have forgotten.

I would love to see more analysis, not necessarily Trybals, but any videos showing another country's  reaction to new (to them) things. Spidey's statement,"Abdul and Mohammad are behavioral analysts' kryptonite" did make me laugh. I wonder how many of this Trybals group would have gotten that joke. I have not watched the "TRYBALS", but in just volunteering for this series, doesn't that speak volumes about this group's (even the constrained and contained Abdul and Mohammad) openness to new ideas and customs? That might make them unusual or exceptional in their own communities.

Posted to Down The Rabbit Hole News (RE:Aftermath's Fdn newest--Stefani Hutchinson) 04/28/2024

Smart to no longer give this person time. Trolls literally feed and thrive on hearing their names/handles and comments reposted. While I question the empathy and kindness of the members on the board of The Aftermath Foundation, until now I had thought that they were more astute (not a hard thing) than to participate in "fair gaming". Highly ironic in view of the fact that "fair gaming" is the center of Leah Remini's civil suit against this cult. Full disclosure, am NOT sure: however I believe that Mike Rinder is an important source (for LR) in her civil case. If my data is accurate, just imagine that conflict of interest.

Posted to Monde's Threads (RE: Prom dress makeover) Uploaded to You Tube on 04/30/2024

I enjoy these makeovers so much. While 5 minutes isn't exactly "long form", I do appreciate the additional details that can be discussed here versus the "short form". The only downside to the finished garment is the mesh. Could mesh be dyed (in place) slightly darker using tea or coffee?  I am not an expert tailor by any definition, but I get satisfaction when I take a thrifted dress or top or jacket and re-form it to fit my taste and style. There are a lot of garments out there that look like they were made by a committee...a committee that obviously never shared notes. When I thrift, very often it is with the observation; this is what I am buying, but what can it become?

Posted to the Lawyer You Know (RE: Karen Read trial - Day 2) Uploaded to You Tube on 04/30/2024

Interesting that a party replete with police officers, their families and friends that seemingly (I may have missed a mention) gave no one leaving the party a breathalyzer test. Amazon has about 20 or 30 under the price of 100 USD). I have no idea whether Karen Read is likely to have committed 2nd degree homicide as a drunk driver or not. Thus far what I know about the police investigation seems that it was lacking in accurate details, a thorough investigation and where (and why) was Chloe, German Shepard the family had for 7 years (who did NOT LIKE non-family members) "re-homed" shortly after the death of John O'Keefe. As this trial proceeds, it will interesting to see how the prosecution addresses the list of inconsistencies in the defense's opening argument.
