The Meg (2018)

Saw this move at the theater is 3D

I also had fun with this movie. 3D was worth it. The characters played by Jason Statham and the (CGI) creatures did not disappoint. Loved the actress who played the little girl. She emoted, acted, read her lines with precision, something I did not see in the character that Ruby Rose portrayed. Oh that crying scene, whew!

Never read the book, but the movie entertained me. Yes I was able to predict some things, but I still had a good time. Two things that I did not like, the fate of Morris's (Rainn Wilson) character...so stupid and the crying scene of the character of Jaxx (Ruby Rose). The actress (Shuya Sophia Cai) who played Meiying as the daughter (and granddaughter) of two of the scientists seemed much better trained than some of the adults.

Fun movie. While not heavily intellectual, The Meg was still moderately entertaining.  Two things I did not like, a dramatic scene with Rainn Wilson that was written SO badly. I cringed. I was not fond of Ruby Rose's performance, especially in a crying scene. Her effort reminded me of a rather weak performance that I gave in a school play (thankfully before the popularity of YouTube). That little girl (Shuya Sophia Cai) was one of the most charismatic actors in this movie and that includes Jason Statham.

The Meg was fun. It did have a few problems. Rainn Wilson's climatic scene came off a bit silly, like it belonged more in a Sharknado genre than in an action thriller. When there was no megalodon on screen, the charisma factor fell into the human hands of Jason Statham or Shuya Sophia Cai (the actress that played the small  granddaughter of the scientist who was running the underwater base.)
