Disney bought Marvel in 2009. James Gunn was hired to write and direct GotG in 2010. Assuming the accuracy of those dates---Disney knew of tweets/subsequent apology, Marvel most certainly knew of tweets/subsequent apology. Even if Disney and Marvel weren't up-to-date on a decade of Twitter, just looking at James Gunn's IMDb would have given them an idea that Mr. Gunn ,historically speaking, wasn't directing conservative movies rated G. Guessing Disney might have to go to a film school for the next director of GotG 3. Probable qualification #1 no Twitter account allowed.
Regarding: The Right Hook, a short by Luke Greenfield (2000), yeah the part that I saw (was not able to stream the entire short) did offend me. Quite possibly that is just me. However there should have been some sort of discussion of the film in that USC class. If the discussion started to be too heated, it should have been postponed to the next day or the next week. College is supposed to grow us up, in maturity, viewpoints and analytical ability. Since I was not there, it is hard to say what happened. Maybe the professor should only lecture, with the discussion handled by someone more familiar with discourse. As for the film itself, the concept was intriguing, but its implementation seemed clumsy, heavy-handed and repetitive. Satirical comedy needs intelligence even more than pratfalls and right hooks.
