SEPTEMBER 2022

Posted To Gold Shaw Farm (RE: movie Adopting Audrey) uploaded to You Tube 09/01/2022

This is fantastic! I am leaving right now to check this movie out. Just leaving this comment to show my happiness and augment the You Tube algorithm for Gold Shaw Farm.

Just saw it (a rental on Amazon Prime).  Quirky, funny, a bit sad, with an interesting/abrupt ending but makes sense regarding the personalities of the 2 main characters. I would not call this movie restful, but after so may adrenaline-fueled movies that I have recently seen, this was a good change. Highly recommend it.

NOTE:  there is a credit for "Morgan Gold" @1:30 (ending credits).

Posted to HauteLeMode (RE: Fashion Feuds (Alexander McQueen and Amy Winehouse) 09/01/2022

The thumbnail says it all, they were fire vs. fire. This was a very well researched history of these two unique people. We still talk about them, we still marvel at their creations, and maybe it is trite to say, we still mourn their loss. Not sure of the direction this new series will go, but I hope that Fashion Feuds can be extended to disagreements with any entity (corporations, public perceptions, conservatism, fashion status quo) not just one human vs. another human. Whatever direction this series takes, I am looking forward to future videos.

Posted to John Campea (RE: new AMC/Nicole Kidman commercial) uploaded to You Tube 09/02/2022

It isn't that the Nicole Kidman commercial is bad, it is just there is SO many commercials before the trailers/movie. I am also not a fan of repetition. It initiates anti-social behavior (by me) such as: a loud groan, playing Pokรฉmon Go instead of turning off my phone and my irritatingly loud giggle (sounds like one of the 3 witches in Macbeth). As of this post, I have held down my impulse to throw popcorn at the screen. Of course it helps that popcorn is high-priced and I love popcorn.

Posted to Dan Murrell (RE: Ep 1 + 2 of LOTR:Rings of Power) uploaded to You Tube 09/01/2022

I checked IMDb. This is an 8-episode season with 6 credited writers (including  J.R.R. Tolkien who, were he available for interviews, might beg to differ on this credit). That group-think factor might bode well for future episodes or best case scenario make for a basic anthology, albeit with beautiful cinematography, type series placed in Middle Earth. (Hmmm wonder if any of these writers did work on GoT, hopefully not the last season's scripts?)

Posted to JackSepticEye (RE: You Tube administrative issues) uploaded to You Tube 08/31/2022

Admittedly there are many things to fix at You Tube, but I agree with the changes proposed in this video that just giving time stamps for video/audio that breaks TOS or pushes someone's Defcon 1 copyright alert button, would be an enormous change for the better. I am guessing that the copyright strikes or demonetized/pulled videos due to inappropriate content leans more towards the smaller You Tuber channels rather than one with more views with frequent uploads. Yes it could be racial, but the LCD in many equations usually comes down to...MONEY, a corporation's money. That being said, start setting up those interdepartmental meetings You Tube. There are solutions out there proposed by some very smart people, just listen.

Posted to Footless Jo (RE: Stress and Pain) uploaded to You Tube 09/07/2022

I wish I could offer advice, but I haven't found that holy grail of happiness and strength out there. I appreciate this video sharing some of the tumult that has roared through the life of Footless Jo. I like the advice I got a long time ago when my life imploded. Give yourself a "vacation" from worry for one month. Obviously pay your bills, do not miss absolutely necessary appointments. Just think about banal things. Immerse yourself in whatever makes you happy. Groom the dogs, clean a closet, pay Amazon way too much cash to rent some really bad movies. Above all do not take guilt, pleasing others and smiling when you do not feel like it with you on this immersion.

Posted to The Try Pod (RE: Texas and Beto O'Rourke) uploaded to You Tube 09/07/2022

I live waaaay over on the east coast of the U.S. I admit to judging Texans negatively by what their state government has done or has not done. I am sorry. I apologize to the citizens currently being harmed by elected individuals who should be helping and taking care of Texans not making those lives harder and more difficult. Register to vote and vote for the people who will make your lives better, not just voting for an incumbent who may have made lives worse.

Posted to John Campea (RE: Pinocchio [2022] Review) uploaded to You Tube 09/09/2022

I mean it wasn't that bad. (not a phrase you want on your movie poster). It seems like they tried to have it both ways, for example old fashion imaging for Pinocchio, yet the cat was amazing. Oddly, because I love Tom Hanks' performances, his face took me out of the movie constantly. He looked too young, moved too young, something was off with his makeup/wig. They needed more Blue Fairy, more sea monster, less J. Cricket along with maybe a less squeaky voice for Pinocchio. Probably was the direction (sorry. Mr. Zemeckis). BTW I have unfortunately seen excerpts from the Pauly Shore version. OUCH!

Posted to Philip DeFranco (RE: News- Thursday September 8) uploaded to You Tube 09/08/2022

Not sure who to blame on the You Tube issues, except that one basic theme keeps being voiced by creators: NO data. Videos are yanked, comments deleted, videos age-restricted or just randomly (whether a human or 'bot at You Tube or simply a Troll  reporting the creator) taking off the entire channel. The solution is easy, every action which I am sure is logged into a program  should be accompanied by time-codes and the specific terms of service rule (per time code/video) that was broken. Hey You Tube, I can code, text me!

Posted to AngryJoeShow (RE: She-Hulk episode 4 review) uploaded to You Tube 09/08/2022

I also like the concept of the "case of the week". A device showcasing a very 2-dimensional female character hurt my brain. I do not blame the actress. I will quote Jessica Rabbit in the 1988 move Who Framed Roger Rabbit ("I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way"). I blame the script and maybe also the director. That character was agonizingly unfunny. I would have shown her being slightly better after each connection with other realms and streaming nights with the Sorcerer Supreme (aka Wong-ers).

Posted to LetsTalkIBD (RE: clickbait) uploaded to You Tube 09/13/2022

News media has de-evolved as streaming has evolved and spread throughout our lives. Print/news media's fear of becoming obsolete has exceeded their fear of lying or exaggerating. Who ever thought 10 years ago that in 2022 you would have to fact check large news agencies in order to get information that you were relatively certain was accurate. Keep sharing data online, this channel is an honest description of living with a chronic disease. While IBD is not what I struggle with, I am still helped by the information and life happenings described on this channel.

Posted to Law & Lumber (RE: Patricia Hearst trial) uploaded to You Tube 09/14/2022

Was she guilty legally, I believe yes. Brainwashed, probably not. However there was some deficit regarding the girl that Patricia Hearst was. Judging from some of her life choices, she was easily persuaded and not psychologically strong enough to see the truth. Her change of colleges and live-in boyfriend (wasn't he much older than her and also HER former teacher?), seems to show a rebellion against her wealthy family. Daddy did not rescue her, so she found support elsewhere specifically in an older male with power of whom her family would not approve. Ironically if she had been isolated by force (yes I know not their way just making an analogy) in a Tibetan monastery at 19, she probably would have become a nun.

Posted to Pretty Pastel Side Quest (RE:GRWM - 15 minutes) uploaded to You Tube 09/15/2022

Loved the video. Although it did give me a little stress. Very similar to how I get ready, except my mantra is (not necessarily in this order):  "I can never get my hair straight", "did these jeans shrink", "where is my cami, not that one, the black one" and the oldie but goodie, "the cat threw up where".  Obvious considering I have two cats who delight in causing mayhem when I am running late I am no stranger to messes, but is Dumpling toilet-trained? The carpets look very white, fluffy and clean so just curious on how it stays that way.

Posted to John Campea (RE: Will Smith's new film) uploaded to You Tube 09/21/2022

Will Smith's time out was only slightly longer than what happened when I broke my curfew.๐Ÿ˜‰ He should be allowed to work at his primary job. Will I ever go back to the opinion I had of him before March 27 2022, probably no. Will he ever know (or care) regarding my opinion, definitely no. All we can do is hope for his emotional and intellectual growth, not just the growth of his bank account.

Posted to John Campea (RE: Vanity Fair article on Ezra Miller) uploaded to You Tube 09/21/2022

Mental illness is an illness and should be treated that way. If the grooming allegation is true, that behavior is a crime and should be treated appropriately. The mental illness issue can mitigate punishment, but no one should be allowed to commit this type of behavior without intervention. As much as I am an avid fan on most DC/Marvel content, in this case I am not sure that I can separate the artist from the art.

Posted to Late Night w/Seth Myers (RE: Florida sent immigrants to Martha's Vineyard) 09/19/2022

This is surreal. A former SNL star is talking about an incident that if portrayed on SNL would have been considered lying liberal rhetoric by Republicans and dismissed as implausible by the Democrats.  PLEASE EVERYONE VOTE - November 2022.

Posted to The Behavior Panel (RE: Murder of Zahra Baker ) uploaded to You Tube 09/21/2022

In spite of the expert commentary by The Behavior Panel, I thought this individual was just garden-variety crazy. My early hypothesis was that she lost control. While she intended to hurt, she had not intended to kill. However then I heard her say "some of my family" @1:33, even sitting in front of a monitor far away from this individual, I was actually scared. There is no mercy, no kindness and certainly no empathy in Baker. I almost feel sorry for her fellow inmates.

Posted to Roxxsaurus (RE: Kyle Jenner Remakes) uploaded to You Tube 09/21/2022

I agree, the clothing shown was in the category of: is it a dress or is it cosplay. This video illustrates a good life hack, as actual Halloween costumes can cost 20-50+USD. Just shop for any accessories at thrift stores with these dresses as a baseline and you are good to go.  Roxx is spot on, that green dress is so Poison Ivy, just need a few leaves! This may be a stretch, but that blue painted body dress gives me Doctor Manhattan (a character from DC - Watchmen series) vibes. Bonus fact, you probably could get by with no accessories.๐Ÿ˜‚

Posted to John Campea (RE: Olivia Wilde's directing career) uploaded to You Tube 09/23/2022

I could not find a definitive answer (paywalls), but this site->  https://www.indiewire.com/2022/09/dont-worry-darling-box-office-olivia-wilde-1234766128/  indicates a budget of 30-35M usd for "Don't Worry Darling". Not sure if movie will be profitable, but it is too early to label it a "bomb". I highly doubt that a less than profitable outcome will derail her career. She strikes me as someone who will always want to direct, even if the equipment is limited to an iPhone and a few (famous) friends. The plot strongly reminds me of a movie from 1975, remade in 2004 (not mentioning it in case of spoilers), but as I have not seen this movie that is only speculation. For me, even if cinematography is excellent I will watch this at home via streaming service.

Posted to Uncivil Law (RE: Trump and Returned Items) uploaded to You Tube 09/23/2022

I am part of replay crew, so I did not participate in live chat.  I do appreciate discussions/commentaries that are based in law only, without bias on this and many other LawTube channels. However, hearing the former (aka ex) holder of the title of (U.S.) called President is a somewhat triggering phrase for me due to events of January 6, 2021.  I recognize my prejudices, but still feel somewhat dismayed hearing the words that a re-election is a possibility.

Posted to Patrick (H) Willems (RE: Sam Raimi's Spiderman- 1 and 2) uploaded to You Tube 09/22/2022

Not exactly a native New Yorker, but during a battle in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness there was a "local" of sorts at the Tibetan home base of the trainers of the mystic arts. Sara (played by Sheila Atim) had limited screen time but the actions/acting showed the devotion of these practitioners regarding their home and creed. Yes a stretch, but it did give a "local" flavor. Of course as was said, this is a Sam Raimi film. There may be other DC or Marvel examples but none come immediately to mind, beyond of course Bruce Campbell's role in Multiverse of Madness.

Posted to Dr. Todd Grande (RE: Release of Adnan Syed) uploaded to You Tube 09/22/2022

I suppose it is too much to hope that there is DNA evidence gathered, saved, but not yet examined with current lab technology which could finally solve this case. Perhaps then the victim's family would be able to exit the horrible reality in which they currently find themselves. Did Adnan Syed commit the murder? Thanks to an ineffective, incomplete and almost careless investigation, we may never know for certain.

Posted to Mama Doctor Jones (RE: Lindsay Graham/anti-abortion bill) uploaded-You Tube  09/24/2022

I was wrong when I thought that these "public servants" were taking us back to 1950. Oh no they are looking way further back.
Characteristics of the period they want to revisit permanently: (1) decline in culture and arts (2) bad economy (3) very bad living conditions and [the fav of these "public servants"] (4) few if any new technological and scientific advances. This site gives one pause about what our future might de-evolve into:         https://www.history.com/topics/middle-ages
November 2022 is election time for many of us in the United States, PLEASE VOTE.

Posted to LetsTalkIBD (RE: Orlando vacation and conference) uploaded to You Tube 09/24/2022

I am from Boston. Real Estate in Boston is a commitment. Whether one owns, rents or books a hotel room, the cost can be quite high. Of course it does depend on location (as in being nearby convention centers) rather than size of room. It was a good idea to combine a short vacation with the conference. Do good work and have fun in the same weekend. Oddly enough I did not even think about the Ostomy bag until I saw the pool. Do not complain about hair transformation in Orlando, Florida. When I was there my hair mutated into a curly, frizzy Bride of Frankenstein (but in a blondish-brown color palette)look. I kept getting stares as I walked around the theme park. I finally found out why from a bemused customer service person. With my floppy white hat, big sunglasses and fake-looking hair I looked like a celebrity trying to avoid the media!

Posted to Dr. Todd Grande (RE: Ryan Grantham's murder of his mother)uploaded-You Tube 09/25/2022

I am not blaming the acting profession, but it seems like certain children who excel early in the profession only to find "joblessness " in their early teen and young adult years seem to more prone to mental disorders along with self-medication with drugs and/or alcohol with escalation to self-harm or harm to others.  Dr. Grande's assumption of what this individual would be like at 35 after almost 2 decades in a U.S. prison is most likely accurate. Perhaps the Canadian system is more effective at dealing with damaged individuals. I would be interested to know why he stopped with only one murder. Isn't a family member being killed usually a prelude to a larger act of violence?

Posted to MedCram (RE: BiValent Booster, get it or not) Uploaded to You Tube 09/20/2022

I appreciate this information about the bivalent booster. I had not considered that this bivalent booster being 50% aimed toward the original strain, would potentially be weaker regarding Variants 4 and 5. So if the remaining 50% is divided equally between Variants 4 and 5 does this mean it is even weaker protection against Variant 5? As far as I can determine by admittedly minimal online research, the COVID Variant that is is primarily affecting people (as of this comment) is Variant 5 not Variant 4. QUESTION: Are Variant 4 and Variant 5 are similar enough to respond equally as affectively to the same chemistry? Apologies to my high school chem teacher, they were correct I would need this knowledge in my future.

Posted to John Campea (RE: Set News on "Don't Worry Darling") uploaded to You Tube 09/26/2022

I don't know what is going on. Obviously there were multiple personality conflicts. Whatever happened during the filming of an ironically titled, "Don't Worry Darling", a film was "born" and no one died. The script needed a rewrite and perhaps some casting changes, but in the final analysis it was just an adequate film. My guess is that all involved parties will go on to future careers and perhaps future awards. Off-topic, but what is the status on the "Rust" situation?  Halyna Hutchins' death was a preventable accident and a tragedy for her friends and family. "Don't Worry Darling" seems to be a lot of people protecting a lot of posteriors.

Posted to Red Letter Media (RE: 3  2022 Summer Big Releases) uploaded to You Tube 09/26/2022

Saw Thor Love and Thunder. Laughed at everything except that hinted future plot in that extra scene. Ugh, looked BORING! Love Mission Impossible 99, oops I mean Top Gun Maverick. Waiting for JW Dominion to hit a streaming service to which I subscribe, as I intend to only watch the dino scenes.
RLM is valiantly trying to make Tic Tac's (aka the "medication" scene) a phenomenon again. So I almost typed TikTok and I am OLD! Hence, I am thinking that maybe a switch to more controversial candy, such as anything with the word "gummi(y)" in it.

Posted to Dr. Todd Grande (RE: John Walsh father of murdered son Adam Walsh) 09/26/2022

I have to do the math on this person. John Walsh may have misspoken on occasion, may have a limited knowledge of crime stats, but he was instrumental (even if only as a figurehead) in the creation of a movement that led to a centralized data base concerning missing children. That being said, I had no idea John Walsh was in his mid-twenties when he met and married a (then) teenage girl. Again, different times, odd views. Dating rules, even if defined by law often treated the marriageable age law as more of a guideline (thank you Pirates of the Caribbean for that "borrowed" expression) than a mandate. As for Mrs. Walsh's parenting ability, yes this was a time when a worry like this was not on the mind of most parents. I also have a theory that the attorneys for the store from which Adam disappeared had as their priority the store, not the child. A civil suit would have not been exactly beneficial for a store that advertised itself as being very family-oriented.  The leaked "opinions" on the stability of the Walsh family may have been just that final step to save a corporation's image. Again, just a hypothesis.

Yes, Sam I am an American and yes, Sam I LOVE cinnamon. That red dress is beautiful, love the drape in the back. WARNING: my closet and jewelry is predominantly black with some neutrals like brown, tan, navy, silver. Try virtual window shopping through ETSY or a vintage online site to find unusual jewelry like cuff bracelet in a wood-like (or recycled wood) material. For earrings I like those very long tassel ones (resemble curtain pulls) for this dress, probably in magenta or a red with blue undertones (so not an orangey red). I would skip the necklace as long as the earrings are LONG. Maybe a dark metal barrette for the back of the hair? As for shoes, try to go with a shoe that honors the spirt of Dorothy's ruby slippers (from Wizard of Oz), but in a much more sophisticated, eye-catching silhouette and/or pattern. Be sure these "unicorns" are shoes for walking not just for instagramming.  There be dragons...and scary shoes out there!

Posted to Dr. Todd Grande (RE: Rudy Giuliani) uploaded to You Tube 09/27/2022

Rooster, ferrets and a recent former U.S. president have plagued the life of Rudy Giuliani. It appears as though Mr. Giuliani has weaknesses in forming realistic judgements concerning certain forms of life. Now that weakness has even encompassed his own life. The past few decades have not only been a fall from grace, but a plummet from Gracie Mansion to a NYC apartment recently searched by the FBI due to an ongoing criminal investigation. He should have stopped at the ferret fiasco.

Posted to antphrodite (RE:Ned Fulmer cheater) uploaded to You Tube 09/28/2022

I have watched The Try Guys for years. Family members became part of the series. And co-workers were brought on screen to become "family". I am not sure this blowup is survivable as it seems The Try Guys' money-making theme was family and friends. There is a recent Try Guys video with the other Try Guys doing comedy routines with Ned Fulmer quite obviously edited out. I could not finish that particular show. They just did not make me laugh or even smile anymore. While I always felt that Ned (irony alert) tried too hard to be THE family man, I was still shocked by this news. I would not be surprised if the female co-worker involved in this cheating scandal had her contract terminated and then she sues. This reading may be more than correct simply concerning the present, it might give some future info.

Posted to Dr. Todd Grande (RE: "The Bling Ring") uploaded to You Tube 09/28/2022

I think that adults in the lives of these teens (parents, teachers, counselors, doctors) were also somewhat responsible for these crimes. While not all narcissists are teens, many teens have narcissistic tendencies tempered by the adults in their lives and perhaps daily experiences. Of course some teens carry these characteristics in adulthood. This particular group of thieves with overly high self-esteem were allowed to keep those narcissist traits by adults who were either oblivious and/or incompetent. Hopefully by this point most have a more mature lifestyle and life view.

Off-topic: Did anyone in Hollywood lock their doors back then?

Posted to John Campea (RE: Director of Blade let go) uploaded to You Tube 09/28/2022

So is director to executive producer a promotion, a demotion, or a way to avoid breaking a contract which can "birth" a lawsuit with the almost simultaneous appearance of bad press/buzz? Surprised that the script is so threadbare, isn't that usually waaaay before first day of filming?   Loved Kris Carr's Hobbit reference, plus an on-point analogy.๐Ÿ‘

Posted to Breakfast All Day (RE: Movie News for Sept. 27) uploaded to You Tube 09/27/2022

I love it when films have titles that are ironic such as "Don't Worry Darling" (like everyone got concerned, worried, garrulous). We can also have that Ironic Film Title  film festival starring:  (1)the 2008 film "The Happening" (as in *** just happened), (2) the 2022 film "Halloween Ends" (yeah sure), (3)  "Transcendence" (which only confused its demo) and my fav (4) the 2003 film "The Room" (still can't figure out that title, maybe because the 1960 film, "The Apartment" was a much better made film?). I could go on, but I am sure that there is a BuzzFeed list out there that has already addressed this subject.

Posted to Philip DeFranco (RE: Daily News Sept. 29) uploaded to You Tube 09/29/2022

I agree that the remaining Try Guys need to take their time on their first public statement since everything imploded. While it seemed like a good idea at the time, The Try Guys have made their employees and family members an integral on-screen part of their channel. What Ned Fulmer has done, is not just damage or end his marriage, he may have destroyed the livelihood of friends, family and employees. I do want to hear from the 3 guys, but I hope Mr. Fulmer takes a very long sabbatical from social media. His, thankfully short, "apology" seemed to have a subtext saying "sorry that I got caught".
